Paul Potts. Wow. It’s not like he’s the best singer I’ve ever heard in my life, but he comes close and he did what matters! He made me cry because it was so beautiful. But why am I posting this on PhenForum? Paul isn’t the best looking guy. His teeth are twisted and yellow, he’s overweight, has a run of the mill job, and he admitted to having confidence issues. But in spite of these roadblocks, he got up on stage and pursued his dream!

Besides the good arrangement of Nessum Dorma, it was the beauty of what was happening that night that brought tears to my eyes. He faced his fears and sang in front of hundreds of millions of people. The reward? A life-changing experience.

This reminds me of the day I realized I was no longer fat, and that I had accomplished my goal in spite of HUGE confidence issues I had as a teenager. Life is too precious to waste feeling bad about yourself. Suck it up and make a lifestyle change. Do it for YOU!

I know how hard it can be to lose weight. Several years ago I was just over six feet tall and weighed in at 180 pounds. Now, I am the same height, yet I tip the scales just shy of 230 pounds. I’ve since lost nearly all of the weight, and I’m looking great at 190 pounds. I did this without three hour a day gym excursions, massive dieting, or taking invasive steps (such as surgery). Instead, I found a routine that I knew I’d be able to stick with for the long term. Oh, and I discovered a few neat little tricks along the way.

Are your friends and family supportive of your weight loss efforts? No one ever said that you had to travel this path alone. It is of the utmost importance that those around you serve as cheerleaders to motivate you and remind you that your hard work has not gone unnoticed.

We all like a little encouragement, especially when the weight loss plateaus or stalls temporarily. However, many of us are not so lucky and in fact might have to deal with hostilities coming from what should be your support structure. Maybe they think you are “better than them” by making such drastic changes, which is absurd. Whatever you do, don’t allow their negative energy to dampen your excitement. Plus, this negativity demonstrates that they are simply a poor excuse for a friend.
