just adding to strengthsports post. he meant 1-2Ibs a week, it can go up to 3 but thats hard to do, if you loosing more than, it's most likely somthing else (water), also if you have more muscle you will burn more calories. in some cases it's better to gain a few IBS of muscle (bulk) and then continue your fat loss program (cut)
