The problem with Low Carb is that you cannot stick to it for the rest of your life. I cannot give up bread for the REST of my LIFE. IT just isn't going to happen. As soon as you are off Low-Carb, you gain back all the weight you've lost pretty quickly.
I think carbs are very important to a diet, as long as you make good choices. For example, Whole wheat bread as compared to white. Replaces starches, sugar. Use whole wheat pita, wrap and brown rice. Eat lots of veggies, fruits. Go easy on the Fats.
I suggest the Body for life plan. Eat six meals a day. If you say you don't have time you lie. 3 meals should be fruits or maybe a bar/shake. 3 other should be well balance of Protein/Carbs. 40% Protein, 40% Carbs and 20% Fat. I went on Body for Life for less than a month, and lost 12lbs. I got one cheat day on Sunday, and ate around 1200-1400 calories, and was ALWAYS full. I never felt hungry. Drink a big glass of water after each meal.
I stopped the diet for like 2 weeks, ate anything and everything but didn't gain a pound back. I abused CHOCOLATE, and what not, and if i had been on low carb, i probably would've gained it back in 2 days. Speaking from experience. The progress is slow, but it's worth while.
