I was told by my Doc along time ago, that Diet anything's are not good for dieting, because the artificial sweeteners in them just make you crave even more drinks, and then other sweets. Occasionaly though I will still have a Diet Rite or Diet Sprite, Diet Rite is a bit better because it doesn't even have sodium. But in all honesty, a regular drink is better than a diet. And you can get caffiene free sodas if you are staying away from caffiene.
Water anyday though is better.  They do make flavored waters that are made w/o any sweeteners or carbonation. I know aquafina has a few that are GREAT! Maybe worth a try?!
