I'm brand new to this...this is my first post--ever! I have been reading this forum and decided to join. I am visiting a bariatric doctor next week and, coincidentally, did exactly what your advice said to do. I asked my regular doctor about getting a weight loss med...she does not believe in them. I went to another internist (my husbands) and was met with a very condiscending reply. He told me I did not need pills, I needed to eat less and exercise more. Oh really?? Is that how you lose weight? Thank you so much for clueing me in!!! Needless to say I did not go back. Now I will be visiting a very expensive medical weight loss doctor (but it's worth it.) This forum is encouraging and I appreciate the monitoring that is going on. I have also noticed so many success stories! Hope I will be one of them. I have 3 boys, ages 16 and 14 yr. old twins. (They are all fab, by the way). When the twins were 2 I took phen-fen and lost all my weight. I only took it for 3 months, as prescribed, and have had an echocardiogram (years ago) to make sure I was OK. I am. I have not a sucessful weight loss since then (just normal yo-yo stuff) and believe you need medication to get back on track. I did keep the weight off for a couple of years, but it all came back and then some. I now weigh what I did when I was 9 mos. pregnant with the twins. I CANNOT control my appetite. I am hungry all the time and I am thinking about food all the time. I can't wait to be in control again. I do exercise frequently. I'm looking forward to being able to ramp up my workouts as I lose the weight. Sorry didn't mean to ramble...will come back again!
