Hey all! I am relatively new to the forum, but I have a question. I read this fact on a website:

"In 1959 phentermine first received approval from the FDA as an appetite suppressing drug. Phentermine hydrochloride then became available in the early 1970s. There are name brands of phentermine like Ionamin and Adipex-P which are no longer avialable online. Phentermine is currently sold as a generic."

I used to take Adipex about 2 years ago, and it was no big deal to order it online. Now I can not get it and I was just wondering if anyone knew why Adipex is not available online, but Phentermine (the generic version) is available online. I am just curious because that doesn't make sense to me. If anyone has any insight, I would love for you to share.

Thanks,

Kristin

I am sorry. I am not trying to get it online. I guess I didn't make that fact clear. I am just wondering if Adipex if different than Phentermine because of the statement "There are name brands of phentermine like Ionamin and Adipex-P which are no longer avialable online. Phentermine is currently sold as a generic" Also, I see a lot about Phentermine online (even though it is illegal to purchase online), but nothing about Adipex like I used to see. I was just wondering if I was missing something.

I have read all of the posts regarding the illegality of purchasing these and other drugs online, and quite honestly, I lived through it. Pharmacy here one day, and nowhere to be found the next. I had no idea what was going on, and your site would have been great had I come across it about a year ago. It would have explained a lot and also saved me a lot of money!

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi, Hon. Everything is 'available' online, according to the so-called pharmacies who want to scam you. There are places you can legally get your prescription but only those that work within your insurance benefits, like when you are getting 3 months' worth of a non-controlled medicine online.

Even they do not dispense controlled drugs like Adipex. No controlled drug, whether called phentermine or Adipex, is available online.
At your local pharmacy, they aren't available without a written prescription from your personal doctor.

As of January 7, 2007, it’s been illegal to sell or buy any controlled substance online without a doctor’s written prescription, including phentermine. No faxing or phone calls accepted, either.

If anyone sells it to you, they do so illegally and I can almost guarantee they are selling you sawdust or something far worse if they have that type mentality!

They cannot be trusted because they are breaking the law and causing each person who orders to do the same. Never trust a thief or a con man. And Lordy knows what ill they can do you with having your credit card info. YIKES!
I hope I have answered your question. Adipex and many legal generics and brand names ARE available through the local pharmacies.

Good to know...

But it still doesn't change the fact that it is illegal to purchase and/or sell online. Can it be done? Probably so. Are we going to promote it here... according to Ian, no. The question was about availability of name brand vs. generic Phen online. Preachy or not, the answer still remains the same.

I understand all that, but what about the places where a docotr does a "consult" online? I have never bought drugs online, buit I recall seeing places advertising that before.

Not to be argumentative, but what good is an online consult? I mean, how can the doctor/nurse check your blood pressure online? How can they evaluate your weight? Sure you can type him/her whatever they want to read but without seeing you in person, how do they know you are telling them the truth?

Really an online consult is no different than just ordering the meds online... Of course, this is 100% my opinion only!
