Hi, I haven't been around in a while, but I have a few questions now and hopefully someone can help.

Firstly, is there someone who knows of a doctor in the Phoenix area that would be willing to give a prescription to someone on the thinner side? I'm not anorexically thin, but nowhere near fat. Last time I checked, I was about 130 at 5'6" which isn't bad but I'm a performer and I need to be a bit skinnier to get cast (plus, I tend to show weight in my face/arms/legs which does NOT look good... at least my waist is always pretty small)

A little background: I lost about 20 lbs. on phentermine in 2005 when my mom gave me most of her prescription because she didn't like it. I used to be able to get new pills online... but we all know what's happened there. In the past I have gone off and on it for maintenance. I live about 1.5 hours from Mexico, so I've been driving down there a couple of times a year and getting it... alas, with the political situation down there, it's not safe (and my husband has begged me not to go down there... he doesn't like me taking phen, but he knows that I have been known to sneak down to Mexico for the day... because I tell him "I went to Mexico!" after the fact). I asked my gyno if she would give me a prescription and she said she doesn't prescribe it. So before I ask another doctor, I figured I'd ask if anyone knows of one, you could PM me.

Secondly, I'm about to go to Australia and new Zealand on vacation and I'm not sure if anyone knows how they are about prescribing it? I know it's known as either Ionamin or Duromine down there, but I don't want to walk into a pharmacy and look stupid. I have a feeling they'd be pretty hardcore (knowing about what you can bring in and out of the country), but it doesn't hurt to ask (you guys)....

For me, phen is like a magic spell... I still eat, but it's SO much easier not to (I have an ENORMOUS appetite!). The sleeplessness is annoying, but I'll take a sleeping pill here and there if I'm super-tired.

Any help, pretty please? I'm scared to weigh myself right now and the last time I tried on my jeans they were pretty tight. :(

Hi. The only suggestion I might have is to ask your pharmacist which doctors prescribe phentermine. They may not tell you but.....you never know..

Also, often diet doctors hold different BMI standards. To access the ASBP directory and view a listing of ASBP doctors by state, please click here.

The cost depends on the area...call around and get the price I am sure they will tell you over the phone.

Well, I made an appointment to see one of the doctors on the list of bariatric doctors that Susan's link provided... luckily he's with my insurance and he does regular internal medicine, so I guess it won't be weird that I'm not obese and still trying to see him.
Just in case, my grandmother is going to Mexico tomorrow, so I asked her to get me some. I didn't really tell her what it's for and I had to sound blase about it since my husband was there... so I'm fairly sure that she won't end up getting it. I have a feeling that she just goes into the first pharmacy she sees and if they say they don't have it or that you need prescription she'll take no for an answer (I've sometimes had to go to a bunch of different places to find it). I'm crossing my fingers!

Glad that link worked for you! Be SURE and send a hand-written prescription with your grandma. In Mexico, still needs a prescription.....um...I think...and legally, if it is phentermine, grandmother cannot travel with it....
