I know the title or subject is not very appealing but I have some serious issues here I have been on Phen for a week and I read about constipation being a side effect. Well, its so true!! I haven't been able to use the bathroom for 5 days now! Ouch So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get things moving? I think if I could use the bathroom I lose another 3 pounds

Have you tried an enima? They aren't the most wonderful option but they work and fast. Hope you feel better soon

I have the same problem. I'm still trying to find what works. I have increased my intake of fiber by eating fruits and veggies. Oft times this does not work (just gives me gas). I also use Flax Seed Oil (I purchased it from GNC). If that does not work...I use CleanseMore made by Renew Life (Renewlife.com). "It is a natural laxative formula with ingredients traditionally used to support healthy elimination For use with occasional constipation". I usually get relief the next day. (I purchased it from the VitaminShoppe).

Don't know if you have one in your area. Good luck...I hope you feel better soon...

Does anyone know how much fiber we should get a day?

Well I took a laxative yesterday at 6 pm and by 1 am this morning I was regretting that decision. I had cramps that honestly felt like contractions. I thought I was going into labor and I'm not pregnant I will never take one again. I will just have to drink a lot more water if thats even possible. Good news is though..once I went I weighed myself this morning and it was a 2.5 lb difference!!

I'm glad you are feeling better . That is not a fun situation to be in.....This may be TMI but I know what you mean by taking laxatives that are harsh. I use them as an absolute last resort.

Take care...

It's very simple to control... Magnesium!

Take 2-3 tablets before bed and the next morning everything is moving. No chemicals... no cramps... no surprises!

Ok, looks like I'm going to make another TMI post. Sorry..

I always have problems with constipation, regardless of medication. I also have learned that you cannot take a laxative when you haven't gone for days. Not a good situation!! If you are going to take a laxative you need to take a stool softener tablet a day or two BEFORE the laxative. If you don't, you're going to be relating the experience to childbirth.

That being said, I eat Kraft LiveActive cheese. I know...cheese and constipation don't usually mix but this is for regulating the digestive system. Kraft says:

Probiotics are beneficial live cultures that, when consumed regularly, can provide a health benefit. The live, natural probiotic culture in LiveActive natural cheese snacks helps to replenish the live cultures in the digestive system, promoting digestive health.

Prebiotics are typically fibers that can naturally regulate the digestive system and serve as a food source for probiotics.

I like the cheddar sticks but they are making lots of LiveActive products now in cereal, cottage cheese, yogurts, etc. I choose the cheddar sticks because I like cheddar and it gives me a snack that has 120 calories and 6g of protein. Usually in a couple days I'll see ..... results.

I know there are other products out there that are similar too like Activia yogurt (I just don't like yogurt) and others. Maybe you can find something that works for you.

Or...like another post said...magnesia is good too. Have you ever heard of the "turn to MOM for help?" MOM being Milk of Magnesia? That is stuck in my head from YEARS ago. Lol. Actually, their advertising slogan used to be (prepare for cheesiness):

"Take MOM in the PM, for BM in the AM"

Wow...I'm chatty today. Hope things get regulated for you!!
