When I started taking Phentermine my doc had me on a 1200 + or - diet per meal 2X (splitting them up of course) I would not eat after 3 pm. However I was just diagnosed with IBS and can't eat the meals I use to or I get aweful side cramps (like a runners cramp with out the running part) that last for hours. I go in for a colonoscopy on Nov 13 to make sure nothing is obstrucking things but my doc really believes its IBS. I stopped taking Phen because I was within 10 lbs of my goal weight. So I took 2 months off to see if I could maintain, which I did but started having these "other medical" issues. My question is, how can I keep my eating plan with much smaller meals if I am only eating really 2x's a day? I am afraid if I start eating after 3 again I will gain the weight back.

I'm not sure why your dr would have you only eating 2x per day...usually that is what they tell us NOT to do...most will say that eating 6-8 mini meals is the best way to get your metabolism up and going strong all day to really help with weight loss.

So....to be perfectly honest, I think I would ask the dr to make sure that is what he meant, and ask what he recommends for you if it is. The ideal calorie intake per day while trying to lose weight is generally 1200 to 1500 calories per day...but again, they suggest splitting that up into 6-8 mini meals. These mini meals usually consist of plenty of fruits, veggies, proteins, and dairy, and of couse added to that is 80 to 100 oz of water per day.

I hope that your procedure goes well, and that you have no further problems. IBS is a difficult problem, but thankfully there is a lot more research and help for it now.

Good luck...and I would call and verify with your dr that he still feels that this would be the best for you at this time.

IBS can be hard. Both our kids have it. One thing they have found that helps is a supplement called DIGESTIVE ADVANTAGE.

It worked so well that a major pharmaceutical company bought them but will have to wait for FDA to rule them safe and effective.

Hey guys!

I have been very busy to get on here in the last 2 weeks :(. My brother was in the hospital so, I was occupied with all that. He is doing much better now! Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone ever feels like Phenterimine is not working sometimes? This weekend, I took phenterimine as how I usually take it but I could not control my appetite at all. I had a huge appetite and I could not feel any reaction like increased energy, heart rate, or low appetite at all.....However, today, I feel like I am on phenterimine. I could surpress my appetite, have increased energy, and increased heart rate. Is that usual? Or, does it signify anything? I thought Phenterimine stopped working but I guess not since, today, it is working????/

Hi, Sha..Sometimes we have to work with what we have. The days you have a hard time with temptations, you might be able to go to a list and look up what to do when on a list you've made.
.
You could include that in your journal, as an idea.

Never make decisions in the heat of ANY moment. Some find that preparing 6 mini-meals the day before and having them in baggies in the frig can boost their willpower.

For me, I had a routine.
I drank 4 ounces of water. had a low-fat cheese stick and walked to the nearest stop sign. If I was still hungry after 15 minutes, I allowed myself to have any vegetable with any protein.

Also, allowed myself 7 bites of treats that called my name; example: cake. Call me crazy! Lots have!

I don't think that is crazy at all, Susan....I found that when I got the really strong urges to eat something that I knew I shouldn't, I would start walking down the mile and back...I may only get a block or two before the craving would diminish, but it would, and then I would go back home and find something healthy or have a bottle of water. I used the same technique when I was quitting smoking...whenever the craving would hit, I would jump on my Gazelle and just go like crazy until I felt that I could control it again.

Distractions are a great way to avoid set backs....you just need to find the distraction that works the best for you. And don't be surprised if you have to change it every once in a while. If you can limit yourself to those 7 bites, that is awesome.....I am not that strong, so my answer is to avoid it completely because if I have that one taste, I'm a goner! lol!

Just don't let the set backs get you down either....we have all had them, and the best way to get over it is to get on with it! Tell yourself you made a mistake, try harder not to do it again, and move on! Don't beat yourself up over it or let it get to you.

You are doing a great job!!
