I have actually been approved to have the Lap Band and just a week ago I was speaking with my Dr. about the surgery date. I decided to try Phentermine and see if I can do it without going under the knife. I pray this works.

Hi....I've never posted on here before...but I thought I should because of my experience. I did have the gastric-bypass surgery 5 years ago....and I'd do it again in a minute. It saved my life. To date I have lost 185 pounds!!!! It was the best life changing thing I have ever done. My surgery did everything it was supposed to do and now I have to do the rest, so I thought I would try Phen to help me out on my last chapter in my weight loss saga! Yes...there are a lot of people who have had complications from the surgery, but that can be any surgery you have. I'm glad I did it and I would do t again!

I thought I was serious about losing weight and was going to take the easy way out by getting the surgery. I went through the seminar with my mother and at the beginning we wanted to do it and by the end we refused to. They don't tell you about the death rate and that scared me to the point that if I'm going to die I'm going to die trying.

That was a few years ago and I have gained a lot more weight due to knee surgery and I figured I'll do it when I'm ready and not for someone else.

One of my diesetters told me about phen and that I should ask for it. It took me 6 months to get it from my doctor, but I've been on it since Feb 06 and I have lost 60 lbs and 30 inches. I'm glad that I didn't have the surgery after all.

Surgery is nothing but a quick fix. Changing the way you eat and perserverance is the key.

I think whether it is pills or surgery, neither is a miracle solution. I mean both is alot of work on your part too. I know a lady who has lost alot of weight with gastric bypass and health wise it has helped her tremondously but then physically, since she has lost so much, she just has so much excess skin hanging on her it is unreal. It really depends on what your decision is based on. Vanity or health. There also has to be a relearned behavior with both. I mean, food has limits and you have to learn that even though there is a McDonald's or Burger King on every corner that there are limitations. My aunt suffers from diabetes, 2 bypass heart surgeries and numerous other health problems and wieghs 350lbs and don't care. If she wants mexican, she has it and as much as she wants. She has a stomach that hangs to her knees. That right there shows you without setting limitations and having things in moderation what we could be like.
As for the gastric or the phen, it is a personal choice that you have to make and realize that it is a lifetime change.

I never considered it before because I never had 100 pounds or more to lose... I did lose 71 on my own though. I think if a person has TRULY tried EVERYTHING then sure have the surgery.. but I hear so many overweight people that say they've "tried everything" to lose weight and then have surgery.... but they never honestly tried eating better/eating less and exercising.....
