Looks like my body is going to shed this last 10-15 lbs. very, very slowly (weighed myself today and I did not move AGAIN from last week. Mind you 3 weeks ago I was at another plateau and finally broke that one last week with a piddley 1 lb. loss..146 so it looks like my battle has begun weeks ago and the weeks of losing 2 to 3 lbs. are gone.) So that brings me to my diet.

I tend to eat the same foods so I know exactly what my calorie count is and I don't have to fuss with it. I do change up the calories here and there so I don't have the exact calorie count. I know your body gets use to eating a certain amount of calories and it's always good to keep it burning with a zig-zag diet. But does it know the difference of what it's eating (e..g. Special K with skim milk everyday for breakfast instead of changing it up)? I don't see how it could but perhaps I am wrong.

Well that is my question for today..

You always have good questions One of my (former) nutritionist told me that the body doesn't recognize the same in calories..say an apple is 80 calories and a mini Twix bar is 80 calories...your body will say it has ingested 80 calories..BUT the makeup of the food is what matters. We all know that an apple is better for you than the Twix bar (*but the Twix bar tastes better! *kidding, folks* kidding) She gave me a break down of how many carbs/fats/proteins that I should have and let me build my menu from that (mind you she was a sports nutritionist...so I was on a higher protein/lower carb plan)...I tend to eat the same things as well..because I am lazy and I really like what I am eating most of the time. It may be possible that your body needs to really be shaken up from the way you distribute your nutrients. Some people have success on a low carb/high carb alternation...Maybe 2 days a week you could forgo the Special K/milk..and eat eggs or another type of protein...or you could eat carbs at the beginning of the day and only protein after say, 5 pm...I think you might have to play with this one a bit...hopefully others will have better advice for you..hang in there, gurl...you CAN do this!

You know what you may be right. I was having egg beaters at least three times a week instead of my Special K and I was losing about 2 sometimes 3 lbs. a week. I think I am going to incorporate the eggbeaters again for my breakfast and see what happens.

It seems like you and I have the same body mix and metabolism... Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Jazzy...eggbeaters are pretty much eggwhites but with a yellow coloring to them...but now that I think about it, I wondering how the color is added AND what exactly is the coloring..hmm..gonna have to do a google. I do eat them (or used to) and I like them..but I like them to be scrambled HARD...they seem to be kind of soft...ok..off to google

What are Egg Beaters made of?
Egg Beaters are made from real eggs, but only the "best part" — the whites. Then we add vitamins and other nutrients that would otherwise be lost when the yolk is removed.

Are Egg Beaters the same as egg whites?
No. When you separate the yolk and use just the white of the egg, you lose important nutrients found in the yolk. Egg Beaters adds these nutrients back in, providing an even better nutritional value. Plus, there's no waste from unused and discarded yolks.

What do you do with the yolks?

ConAgra Foods purchases pasteurized egg whites only. The supplier of these egg whites sells the yolks to other food and manufacturing companies for a variety of uses.

Why are Egg Beaters yellow?
Egg Beaters are naturally colored by beta carotene, just one of several vitamins and minerals added to Egg Beaters to make them nutritionally comparable to whole eggs, but without the fat and cholesterol.

I don't like eggbeaters. They taste like old lipstick to me. Yep, I said it - old lipstick.

Anyway, I've done lots of testing. An egg is about 80 calories. 4 egg whites are about 80 calories. So I tried the egg whites only but didn't like that. So I've decided to just eat the egg and enjoy it. I usually have two in the morning and scramble them and add in an ounce of cheddar cheese. But sometimes I fry it in Pam(just one). Then, if you add cheddar cheese on top of a fried egg it tastes very similar to an egg with hollandaise sauce on top - well to me anyway. So two scrambled eggs with an ounce of cheese is about 200 calories and one egg with the cheese is about 120 calories.

Sandy

That's my take on eggs.
