I failed miserably a year ago on Adkins (1 week of induction made me a manical bitch)
it wasn't pretty :(

I hope you succeed at whatever you try but low-carb is NOT for me

I dont think I can do anything that forbids me to have certain foods. I think I am better off sticking to common sense-eat less and healthy and move more.

Good way to go. I don't like being all restricted either. I just eat reasonably.

Yeah Atkins was tough to follow (only did 11 days and did lose
weight but by the 11th day, was so hungrey ).

South Beach is much more realistic and easier. You end up
staying on it. Losing weight with less restrictions.

The link Ian gave the other day (http://www.weightlossforgood.co.uk/) gives you the gist of it. Everything you need to know before deciding if you wanted to go for it. (V.good link Ian)

There is also another link on the page for more recipes and info. Although the book is a valuable source.

I did the phentermine and adkins plan and lost 80 lbs. I stayed under 20 carbs a day. I cheated every Saturday night with a favorite meal to keep my insanity. 6 months later and I have kept it off so far by just staying a way from breads and bad carbs on a daily bases. I feel great! :P

That's cool that you've kept it off. Most people seem to regain after they
try an extreme diet for a while and begin to relax after a while.

I follow the same rule as well: Stay away from bread, cookies, cokes etc.

I am doing similar to South Beach. I ate the good carbs, like whole grains and fruit. I could not live without those things long term.
