But yes, you are right NTL, that is where you commonly find pimientos, though you can also buy them in a jar, by themselves, without the olives.

Well as Cyn said, they are from sweet red bell peppers, they are pickled and placed in the olives. As to who puts them in there, you would have to ask the factory that processes the olives.
