Do you think that Splenda still causes your body to produce more insulin
and your liver to react as though it's expecting real sugar?

If so, then I guess some disadvantages still exist even with Splenda.

I am not sure about the insulin thing, but I do know that using splenda does not produce cravings later like sugar does. If I eat something with sugar, I later crave more. Splenda does not have the same effect for me.

Here is what the splenda site says:
Sucralose, or SPLENDAź Brand Sweetener, the no calorie sweetening ingredient in SPLENDAź No Calorie Sweetener, is not a carbohydrate and has been shown in studies to have no effect on blood glucose control or insulin levels.
Also here is a link that has more info on splenda which says it is not so safe
http://www.truthaboutsplenda.com/
I really dont know if it is safe or not. Seems like everything you find now has something negative for every positive. And who really knows if the information on the internet is correct? I personally dont use splenda or any artifical sweetener--but then again I dont use sugar either. I am trying to stay away from all the sweets--but I have used the artifical ones and splenda before and I did like the taste of splenda.

I 'm no expert about blood sugar related issues, but i think that Splenda does something to your blood (insulin spike). Splenda is made of DEXTROSE, MALTODEXTRIN, and SUCRALOSE, which i read have a high glycimic index. (cause an insulin spike). :-o
