Ok I weighed myself this morning and I was 154.4 yesterday and today I am 155.8 that is a 1.2 lb. INCREASE!! WTF!! The only thing I did different was not have my usual 4 - 5 liters of water on Sunday and Monday and ate a Lean Cuisine meal two days running. So that got me thinking....(since I never use salt when cooking) perhaps those ready made meals had large amounts of sodium??? And my body reacted accordingly How much sodium are we suppose to intake per day? And does it vary due to body weight? I would assume so.

THis is what I ate since last Friday:

1 tsp. sugar (natural not white): 59 calories
3 strawberries: @24 calories
233 calories

Lunch:
2 slices of honey-maple turkey: 60 cal. Ea. 120
1 slice of whole wheat bread: 45
1 Green apple: 53
1 slice of cheddar cheese: 50
268 Calories

Dinner:
Lean Cuisine: 270
270 calories

Dessert:
Yoplait yogurt: 100
4 Cinnamon flat bread: 40 ea (160)
260 Calories

Water: 3 liters
Total Calories: 1031

Why would this make me put on a 1.2 more from Saturday (that when I first weighed myself and say 154.4). And it's not PMS time (that was last week and I still lost then). So does anyone have any logical explanations for this? Damn...I knew I shouldn't have weighed myself until Friday (my official day).

Both of those stupid meals (see I knew I should have just cooked for myself) one had a sodium count of 510 mg and the other was 530 mg. I'm not very well versed in this area as I don't use salt and at all when cooking. So I never worry about it.

Well I ain't counting that extra 1.2 or whatever it is! Ain't doing it. Friday is my official weigh in day and that is what I'm sticking to.....

Nylon, this is not a easy answer. According to Harvard Health website, they say if you are over 50, have high blood pressure or heart problems to stick around 2,000mg. I think that sodium can cause water weight.
Not sure this helps any

Thanks for the info Kris..But I'm not there yet.. I am under 40 with blood pressure 120/72.

This is what I found:
It is suggested that the average American "consumes from 2,300 to 6,900 milligrams of sodium daily." Sodium

So there is no way that I could have digested that much sodium to have a gain like that. But as we all now being a women is a mystery and so are our systems too.. Well I won't get all freaked out about it now. But I did have my mini-goal (knowing that I was 154.4) hoping to be 150-151 by Friday and I didn't want to fail my first mini goal.

Nylon, no I dont think you are there nor even close but you know sometimes I get up of a morning and I will be down a lb or up one. I have noticed on those times that my wedding rings are so tight on my hand, so who knows? It was probably just a fluke and I am sure everything will even out.

Well, the same thing has happened to me a couple of times since I started the phen.
I will get on the scales one morning like yesterday morning and suddenly I am up like 2.5 pounds. No ryhme to reason, I have not cheated, I have done nothing different.

Today I was back done 1.5 pounds, but still up that dang pound!

Our bodies are just uncorporative some days!!!!

I do think it is water retention going on, but still it makes you angry doesn't it!

The thing that then drives me crazy is that I start over analyzing myself. I think one minute, I must be eating too much, then I must be in starvation mode, that is my problem. Maybe I am exercising to little or no, maybe too much!!!! Maybe it is too many carbs or not enough protein!!! I drive my self nuts....

Maybe I should just be more patient...that has never been one of my redeeming qualities!

Oh well, there is always tomorrow...

Laurie

nylon-Put the scale away! If you must weigh yourself, only do it once a week. I rarely weigh myself and I gauge any weight loss or gain by the way my clothes fit. I know a lot of people disagree with that and weigh themselves everyday but I found that for me, it was self-defeating.

I know. But I don't weight myself everyday. Probably every other day or so.... Last time I weighed myself was on Saturday. Three days ago. I need to check at least 2 or 3 times during the course of a full 7 days. To make sure I'm on track.

As for the sodium. Isn't sodium intake for one meal (i.e., Lean Cuisine) 530 a lot? Don't know, just trying to figure it out. Because I thought I would be smartie this week and live on those for dinner since my husband is away on business and definitely see a loss on Friday. But by the rate I'm going it doesn't look that way. Should I just scrap them for the remainder of the week and make my dinners instead? Maybe just live off of Special K for dinner for the week? Since I hate cooking for one and won't do it. That's why I thought the Lean Cuisine meals would be good. But if it's going to affect me that much, I'd rather just do Special K for dinner.
