Ok I have to admit I thought this eating plan my pcp has me on was "weird" because I've never heard of cutting all dairy out of your diet. I almost fainted when I was told that.

You can't eat carrots, bananas, breads, pastas, corn, cereals, shellfish or red meats.

sample menu:

Oatmeal, Chicken or Tuna for breakfast

Salad stuff for lunch; their replacement meals or a protein supplement

White meats; salad; veggies and fruits for dinner or save your fruit for dessert

1/2 of your plate at dinner with salad; 1/4 with meat/beans; 1/4 Fruits

Stay between 1200-1500 calories; 1/3 from Protein; 1/3 Carbs; 1/3 Fats

I know this isn't something I will stay on, I miss my cheese even more than breads lol but I have learned in the past 2 weeks that I ate ALOT more dairy than I thought I did.

If it isn't something that you think that you will stay on and you are not that interested in it and you don't feel that you have a lot of options, then maybe you should try weight watchers. That way you can eat pretty much anything. You also are not depriving yourself of certain things that you may like. You can even splurge once and awhile w/your extra points(i.e., going to dinner, eating at a wedding, having an ice cream cone after a ballgame, etc.). I have heard of a plate being divided into 3 sections of 1/4 protien, 1/4 fiber and 1/2 veggies. But if you feel limited and are not going to stick w/it, then you should find another life-style change that you are happy and comfortable with. Good Luck!!

I think I tend to agree that if you don't learn to eat in a way you can continue eating the rest of your life, don't waste the time. Each of us has done THAT, over and over and over and over.......that's why we are on this board! We need something that works.

Every diet works if you stick to it. It MUST be something you can incorporate into your life and eat moderately of ALL the healthiest foods. Don't you think? There are several ways to do this but if you don't re-train yourself while you are losing, you only win 1/2 the battle. If you take phentermine or phentramin and are being helped it is the PERFECT time to re-learn how to eat healthily.

A plan like Weight Watchers, The Zone, South Beach, etc, all seem very well balanced. Please look those up right here on PhenForum! Let us know what you think!

My M-I-L swears by WW, she lost 35 lbs last year from it and is going back on it now to lose the last 20.

My doctor I go to is my PCP I've seen for 3+ years. I questioned him on Friday about "Phase 1" that I'm on.

This Phase is for Optimum weight loss; and if I don't lose enough each week then they lower my carb intake for maximum weight loss.

He says what they do is when you get 20 lbs above your "ideal weight" they slowly phase you off of meds and ease you into a "normal" eating pattern and up your exercise to a daily routine so that compensates for the added foods. Which is a relief, I don't think I could keep some type of dairy out of my diet for months.

Their scales weigh .8 less than mine so I lost more than I thought on Friday. By my scale in 14 days I lost 13.4 lbs, but by theirs I lost 14.2. This morning I lost another pound from Friday.

His plan isn't the most conventional, but it's better than alot of the weightloss clinics/doctors who put you on 500-700 calories I'm just glad after a full year of being of strict discpline, I've found another eating plan that helps me continue to lose.

That is great weight loss; however, losing too rapidly isn't necessarily the best way, either. And the ONE thing that we need to remember is: It is not a diet, it is a change of lifestyle. Good Luck!

Thanks Susan that's why I questioned my doctor...

I'm sure after all my questions about Adipex vs Phen made him a bit queasy lol but I don't rely on what my doctor say just because he's my doctor :P

After a year of strict discipline and a complete lifestlye change, I have lost 80+ pounds. I have found that "eating plans" and "exercise routines" must change or I don't continue to lose. Our bodies get used to things and we have to switch every so often.

The next phase is a lower carb plan and higher intensity exercise when I am 20-30 lbs above my goal weight.

When I started this plan; I started interval training with walking & running. I started out with a warm up - 10 min walking, 1 min running @ 3.0 and then 5-7 min walking, then repeat and then a cool down of 10 min.

I am starting my 3rd week and I am up to 6 min warm up walking @ 2.5, then I run/jog for 4 min @ 3.7 mph, then walk for 6 min then repeat run/walk until 50 min and a 10 min cooldown.

My goal for the month is to walk @ 2.5 mph and be comfortable at 4.0 with running. I'm trying to up my intensity for running speed so the margin between walking/running is a bit more to build strength and endurance.

By upping my running time and speed each time I've been doing this, I went from 1 min @ 3.0 to 4 min @ 3.7 in 15 days. I was quite shocked that I could run @ 3.5 mph for 12 min

On this plan, I have not felt the stomach bloating that I have in the past or felt hungry and tired. In the past year, I have utilized low carb, low fat, low cal plans, but nothing has worked the way this plan has.

I've lost another 1.4 lbs and still have ALOT to go, but I'll be on my dr's plan for 3 full months - so I am excited to see how well this continues to do.

WomanWithin, hello! I love your running plan. I have been doing the "Couch to 5-K Plan". What it is is I walk 3 minutes, run 1 minute, walk 3 minutes, jog 1 minute, repeat for 20 minutes. I love it! I bought myself a fancy new pedometer to keep track of 7 days
