OK, time to get serious about
DIET!
Hi! I lost about 17 lbs 1 1/2 years ago and found this forum so helpful- I'm small and wasn't real overweight, but still 2 sizes more than my ideal weight.
Anyway, I've put about 1/2 of it back on, despite the fact that I "diet" every day! So I need to get more serious and I'm trying something I heard Dr. Phil say a couple of years ago:
Stop wearing pants with elastic waists!
By wearing my jeans all the time, which are too tight and uncomfortable, I am CONSTANTLY reminded of my weight gain and if I choose to eat too much at a meal or eat that extra snack (especially at night) it's actually VERY uncomfortable to put more food in my stomach. So, I'm not just relying on intellectual and emotional tools to help with the
weight loss, I've also got a physical signal telling me to watch out.
I hope to stay on this site until I lose the 6 pounds because it keeps me accountable. I know that 6 pounds may seem insulting to many of you, but I believe that whether you lose 100 pounds or 50 pounds, once you lose that weight, watching even a 6 pound gain is important because otherwise those 6 pounds can become 10 pounds, then 20 , then 30, etc. I'm 53 y/o and have had to watch my weight my entire life because I'm so short and I know that every pound counts whether it's going on or coming off.
I also know that the closer you are to your ideal weight, the harder it is to lose it (our bodies start to resist), so I expect this to take awhile, but I'm hoping to keep you posted. It's good to be back!
