I've been testing the
diet thing for a while and thought i should share some basic knowledge so you all can follow
Exercise
Always do at least 1 hour of cardio a day. I would suggest going to the gym and doing the treadmill for 85 minutes and doing the bike thingy in the gym for 30 minutes. Make sure to actually sweat. Atleast on the bike thingy. To be considered physically active, you need to do atleast 10,000 steps a day! Wow! Thats alot! You should consider getting a walkman (i think thats the name but to make sure u know what im talking about, its the little thing that you clip onto yourself that tells you how many steps you took) when your walking around or on a treadmill!
Muscular Exercise
For those that are 65 pounds or more overweight, i suggest light muscular exercise and for those under that, do intense muscular exercise. Doing this will help build your muscle and muscles burn calories everyday, the more muscle, the more you burn! To keep your muscle, you must eat a certain amount of protein a day. Remember, muscle is heavier than fat but thinner than fat.
What Muscular exercises to do?
Well, you should consider doing one type of exercise a day and then the next day, do something else so your other muscles can rest. day 1 arms, day 2 legs, day 3 bicep, day 4 abdomen and so on~. Make sure to spend atleast one hour in the gym doing muscular exercise each day. (you don't have to do it everyday, but it helps alot if you do.)
What to eat?
As far as meat/fish/protein goes... I highly recommend Tilapia seeing as it is more healthy than most other food that has protein in it. Also, eat oatmeal and try drinking at least three gallons of
water a day if your doing a protein diet or eating alot of protein. If you eat too much protein and don't drink much water, you will get kidney stones and it is described as the most painful, pain imaginable. Do you really want to go through that?
Where to learn about dieting?!
Actually, ever wondered how trainers in gyms know all the stuff they do? They go to some place to get certified! I am going to check this out. There's a place called ace... These classes to get certified are usually 250-400 dollars but i think its worth it, if you want to know what to do in a diet without being fooled by what others say! If you think about it, it's cheaper just taking these classes than using a trainer in the longrun because if you use a trainer, the recommended usage of a trainer is 3 times a week which can be expensive.
Products worth trying.
Mega Men Sport: This is a dietary supplement and it is quite good.
Wheybolic Extreme 60: This is for people wanting to build muscle. Although i don't want HUGE muscle, i am taking this purely to build some muscle and reach my 180 protein mark each day so my muscles help burn calories.
Advice on working out
Don't try to do too much. When some part of your body starts hurting in a painful kinda way and NOT in a tired kinda way, it's best to stop right there. When concentrating exercise on one part of your body, you will need to do enough exercise to the point where it will hurt the next day in the morning. (This is good.) The best thing is, you don't have to workout anymore than 2 hours a day! The body works in an interesting way, so if you spent the entire day in the gym trying to get muscle and see people spending less time than you in the gym and still gaining muscle, its probably cause they were doing it differently from you. Perhaps you didn't eat your daily grams of protein? Perhaps you did too much exercise and needed more protein or something? Perhaps you were just working out wrong... Whatever it may be, don't think that just spending more hours in the gym will help you lose weight. Spend too much time in the gym recklessly losing calories and you will lose muscle and your efforts will go to waste.
For those of you with pot/beer belly's...
Contrary to popular belief, you don't get this from drinking too much beer or soda or w/e. Well... You do, but its not because its bad or anything, (well... it is bad, but its not the cause of beer/pot belly) you get it because you have a high calorie intake and thus you got that belly. All you have to do as you lose weight is put one finger in your
belly button and then push your belly in. Try to breathe normally while doing this and do it for atleast 30 seconds a day. It trains this one muscle that i forgot the name of and it will help turn your belly back to normal.
How to deal with man-boobs
Cardio.
Why not drink Coke?
Coke is bad. Really bad. It can give you kidney stones and it should be banned. You shouldn't drink it at all, not even the diet coke cause it releases a neuro-toxin from what i hear. No matter what DON'T DRINK COKE. Try drinking some else... I can mention more reasons, but i'd end up writing like 5 paragraphs. Put simply... if your gonna diet... Why even bother drinking this?
Colon Cleansing
Well, there is this thing where people shove this thing up your butt and pumps you with some kinda liquid and drains cleans your intestines which is drained by another tube... This helps remove a little weight and you'll be surprised by what will be drained! Also, it'll help you go to the bathroom more cause the stuff you had in there was clogging up ur intestines and thus after doing this, you will go to the bathroom more often. (costs like 50 dollars) Haven't done this yet. My uncle had a snake in his intestines. O_o Well, the processed i just described was an enema. It is much healthier to use pills i hear and this is quite healthy to do. It prevents alot of disease/illness and colon cancer.
Before breakfast
Jog around and/or swim in your neighborhood or in your gym (if its close) That way, you will gain less weight when you eat your breakfast cause your metabolism will be a bit higher.
Tips of wheat
Eat brown rice over bread. One little cup of brown rice, not a regular sized drinking cup and then fill it to the top! Just get a small cup and fill it to about half or 1/3 of the cup.
Trick your kids into being healthy.
You might want to make your kids (starting from the age of 4) to weigh themselves once a week in the morning and make them eat some healthy things while explaining why the food is good for them. Doing this may make them unconciously aware of how to watch their weight and do a good diet. (It won't make them try anorexia) So they would be able to keep their weight and never become fat. Also, getting them some fitness games would be a good idea. The Nintendo Wii sports game and theres some other fitness games for the Wii. You can also make them do dance dance revolution on the xbox or ps2 which is a fun game. Have them become experts on those games like dance dance revolution and they will unconsciously stay fit! Don't actually make them do an adult diet with lots of exercise and such. Young kids shouldn't think about doing
diets, so it's best just to form the habits. When your child goes to school, make them their meals. schools usually have 3 meals and each usually packs 1,100 calories. Thats 3,300 calories a day! Ouch! Plus, they sometimes bring their own food anyways which will increase the amount they take! Also, never let your kids drink soda. If they haven't tried it yet, its best not letting them know how it tastes. It'll do alot of good to them if they don't drink it, ever.
Gym/Training/Exercise Buddy!
Get one! Seriously, it's easier doing your workouts with someone with you! You can even take turns on a specific machine and talk. One rest and the other does exercise or both do exercise at the same time! It'll make you want to go a little further, sweat a little more and try to out-do ur friend. Nothing like all-natural rivalry.
Protein
Simply put. Protein helps build muscle and helps repair muscle. It is necessary if you want to have muscles and advance to higher levels of exercise.
Daily Diet Composition Calculator - Carbohydrates, Protein, Fat Grams and Calories you can calculate how much protein you need in a day here. pinups post on the second page explains a bit on this.
Positives on Colon Cleansing
Well, i researched this a bit. Apparently, 9 out of 10 people has worms/parasites and such in their bodies (colon mainly) and these parasites feed off your nutrients and could give you diseases! They could easily be one of the reasons why you lose less weight than you should! A female parasite can lay thousands of eggs per day!!! (depending on which parasite) I thing that DrFloras Ultimate Kit is a good colon cleanser but i'm going to try that in a month or 2 cause i already got evercleanse, so i'll use that for now. (DrFloras has a one year guarantee!)
* Clear up your skin and helps get rid of acne
* Increase your energy levels and puts you in a better MOOD
* Help reduce pain from gas, bloating, etc.
* Improve your memory
* RAMP UP your immune system – I can’t remember the last time I had a cold
* Reduces joint pain
* Gives you less smelly breathe
* It can improve your vision
* Improve your ability to taste and smell
* Allow you to sleep deeper and awake full rested
* Give you better hair texture…
These are some benefits i've been reading about. Apparently, the toxins in your colon can affect alot. Even how good you can see. I think the whole colon cleansing thing is a good idea.
Edit: Be carefull which colon cleanser you get. Theres alot of scams. Don't get a 10 day colon cleanse from ever cleanse. DrFloras Ultimate Kit is probably the best working cleanser.
Plateau Effect!!!!
Ok, some of you have heard about it, if you go to the gym and have a trainer or someone quite knowledgeable in health and some of you haven't. The Plateau Effect is something where if you do the same exercise over and over, it will become less effective. Like doing 1 arm exercise everyday. You'll lose less calories and build less muscle. To avoid this, you should try a variety of different things. Try yoga, pillate, karate, swimming and more. Don't just go and do the same thing everyday! It's a bad idea when ur on a diet and/or trying to gain/obtain muscle!
When to eat
In my opinion, you should go to sleep at 8 or 9 pm and wake up at 5am and then do some jogging, afterwards... Eat at 6 am, 9 am, 12 pm, 3pm and 6pm and you won't eat anything past 6 and you eat every 3 hours. The suggest time between meals is 3 hours.
To be continued... I will add a bit more when i have time and when i learn more. Be sure to check back on this thread if you like what you learned so far... if it helped.
