I've never heard of anyone getting fat on fruit! EVER! LOL

So why do i have to limit my fruit intake and count those calories ect.? I know they have natural sugar but come on..those arent going to make me fat!!

Hypothetical situation. You eat 50 pounds worth of fruit in a single day. Is it still possible to not get fat? I think your going to gain. Your probably gonna get an overdose on vitamins/minerals aswell and counting calories is very important. I'm not that smart when it comes to knowing everything about calories and health, but i know it won't be good if you try that.

It was hypothetical. I was just trying to point out that getting the idea that fruit won't affect you much is going to bite you in the butt eventually. Why not just write down how much calories/fat/sugar and so on of what the fruit has and then put it on a magnet on the fridge so you'll know how much the fruits contain before you eat it.

Hi! I don't count vegetables, but I am on maintenance. You have to count both fruits and vegetables while dieting to lose weight and should aim for an everday consumption of:

3, 1/2 c. servings of different fat free dairy
3, 1/4 c servings different whole grains
6, 1/2 c. servings different vegetables, no butter, no sauces
3, 1/2 c servings different berries
2,1/4 c servings different meats, poultry, fish
2, 1/8 c servings different nuts.
DAILY DRINK 60-100 OUNCES WATER.

One of hubby's sayings is you can't control what you don't measure.....or something like that!

I understand what you are saying, triciaeagle, it does not seem fair that you should have to count the calories in food that are good for you! I think the reason that you still have to consider these calories in your daily diet is because of the sugar content in most fruits are pretty high. Even though it is a natural sugar, there is too much of a good thing there too. I just doesnt seem fair that while watching tv you cant just munch on a bowl of grapes without counting the calories versus munching on a bowl of potato chips!! And even though the fruit still contains calories, I think they are referred to as empty calories and are not as hard for your body to convert to energy. Hope this helps! Life just doesnt seem fair sometimes when you are dieting!! lol!
