So this is what I don't understand: How come people always say, "Don't eat after 6pm." I even heard this in nursing school. They said it is because your metabolism slows down at night. But I still don't understand it. It just seems like it is all about what is consumed and what is used for energy, simple input and output no metter when.

So if anyone can help explain it to me please do! Or if anyone knows if it is even true or not! lol It confuses me so!

I AGREE! I wonder, too! Seems you can't possibly burn more calories by eating at 3 pm rather than 9 pm. Y'all post, please, if you know.....

From what i understand. When your metabolism is low, it has a harder time of breaking down foods so the foods, instead of giving you the most of what it can (like proteins and vitamins and whatnot) it'll give you less and more of it might be stored or turned into something that you dont want. (fat, sugar etc) The higher the metabolism, the more easy it breaks down your foods and you would get the most out of the good stuff and it will be less bad for you.

Hmmm...well that makes since to me. So it is like how your body breaks down the food at what time of day when your metabolism is high or low. Thanks for explaining.

No problem. However, i may be wrong. I don't know everything about metabolism and thats from what i understand. I could have easily just misinterpreted something. So, what i say isn't too concrete when it comes to metabolism.

It makes sense that after about 6 pm your body is not as active as it would be as say at 3 pm. So if your body is not as active, you metabolism would not be either. I would think that this would not be the case with people who work at night though. Being a nurse, do you work at night? I would say that you would want to not eat close to when you are going to be going to bed, say like within 4 hours before. Does that make sense?
