Straight from WebMD - Better information. Better health. :
"Losing weight is a simple mathematical formula: You need to burn more calories than you eat. Experts generally recommend creating a deficit of 500 calories per day through a combination of eating fewer calories and increasing physical activity. Over the course of a week, this should yield a loss of about 1-2 pounds of fat.
If you want to lose weight faster, you'll need to eat less and exercise more. Bottom line: 1,050 to 1,200 calories and one hour of exercise a day (but be sure not to dip below this calorie level for safety's sake). On this type of plan, you can expect to lose 3-5 pounds the first week, or more if you weigh over 250 pounds.
"Dieters who follow the plan can lose 2 pounds from diet and 1 pound from exercise each week, and even more if they have more to lose, because the more fat you have to lose, the faster it comes off," says Dansinger.
You may lose even more weight initially if you limit salt and starches.
"When you reduce sodium and cut starches, you reduce fluids and fluid retention, which can result in up to 5 pounds of fluid loss when you get started," explains Dansinger."

Thanks susan!

Also one pound of fat is equal to 3,500 unburned calories yes guys that is it not much huh considering a few double cheese burgers and you have already had over the 3500

exapmle this week you eat 15,00 calories you only burn 11,000, you guessed it you will have a one pound weight increase this week because you took in more than you burned.

Excess calories which are not burned turns into triglycerides and stored into billions of fat cells or adipocytes. When you consume more calories than you burn it cause these fat cells to expand and fill then you gain weight!

When you eat less calories , your body turns to the stored trigylcerides for energy which makes these fat cells get smaller in size which gives you weight loss! Kinda like a baloon that is filled with water when it has water it is heavy weighs more when it has no water it weighs alot less! That is how our bodies lose weight!

So guys the key here like susan has posted is to eat less calories and exercise or at least stay active the more calories you burn the more you lose, the more calories you consume that are not burned the more weight you gain,

no wonder i got to 230 i loved big macs and hamburgers!

Some people has slow metabolicitic rates while others has fast, that also determines how we gain and store fat.

Those people with a slow metabolism has to be active on a daily bases and watch what they eat!

People with a fast metbolism can eat like my husband a cow a day and stay thin!

Not fair i know but hey you have to deal with the cards that you ARE handed!

Thanks susan for bringing this up!

Girl! You said it well. I think it's high time someone said, in addition, is that we all have known from the get-go what 99% of weight conscious say: Eat less; exercvise more.

I needed something extra...some little switch to be turned on, but frankly, I am not quite sure why it didn't turn on 45 years ago. I partially blame our restaurants and what is given Americans as meal examples.

There are some great food-and-health-friendly restaurants, though. We have a ZOE'S. What are some other good places?
