Hi

Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes someone to get visible muscle tone doing a pilates workout or any type of muscle toning exercise.

Thanks

You'll get the best results by running and doing light weightlifting with
at least 15 reps per set.

The time that it takes to see toning results really depends on your body fat
percentage, and the quickest way to lower that is to run daily.

Ian is right. No matter how much pilates you are doing, if you don't get rid of body fat, the toning although presently taking form will not be visible. I used to run and it shapes me up in a snap, but it can be hard on the knees and my left knee is shot as far as ability to run now. Also, extra weight makes running very difficult. I suggest slower paced walks, but very long walks. If you walk at 3 mph for 30 minutes in the am and then another 45-60 min walk at night, you will burn fat.
Good luck.

Hi

Thanks for the replies!

I walk a couple of days a week and then I do DDR for the rest of the week, which I'm not sure if you know what that is, but basically its a game where you dance where the arrows tell you too. Anyway its quite a workout and 30 minutes of that completely tires me out. So I use those as my cardio workouts and then I use pilates for toning.

Im currently 125 lb, but I want to be 116 lb -120, I think that is the right weight for a 20 year old.

I don't have access to any weights right now, so Im hoping that the cardio that I do do will be be good enough for the time being.

dance dance revolution. I love that game. I have playstation, now I just need to get the game and the mats so I can do it at home. My friend knows someone who lost a lot of weight doing that. As long as you do cardio while doing the pilates you should be ok.

The success for losing fat is to move more and eat less. I'm in favor of anything, be it pilates or cardio or whatnot if it gets someone moving.

I really want to get that dance revolution game, I always see it at gameworks and thought, if I can practice at home, then I'll try it at the arcade and look like a pro. I'm sure it's fun. That is a very great fun alternative to typical workout!

Yeah its a lot of fun!
Takes a little while to get into the advanced stages of the game but there are lots of songs that you can try, so you never get bored! You don't have all the songs available at once and you need to play the game a certain amount in order to unlock them, so thats what motivates me to play also.

Unfortunately my dance pad just broke so no more dancing for me grr :x
