I'm in a posting mode tonight it seems!

I'm a chronic insomniac. I've taken Ambien (same results reported above) and now use Lunesta. Most times it works although honestly sometimes it doesn't. I'm incredibly frustrated by it, particularly since I know proper sleep is important for weight loss!

I've recently decided that I need to break the pharma solution for sleep. It's just not working for me. It's resulted in a few sleepless nights, that's for sure. But I picked up a CD for sleep and relaxation and have begun listening to that at night - it definitely helps me fall asleep, although staying asleep remains an issue. I also bought a yoga DVD designed to promote relaxation in the evening. I haven't tried it yet but I'll let you know what I think after I do.

BTW I was talking to a girlfriend last night about some other stuff and we got to talking about the success she's had in general with accupuncture and other eastern cures. I did a bit of research and decided to make an appointment with a naturopathic doctor near my house. Insomnia (as well as my weight issues!) is at the top of my list of things to discuss.

Ellen

ooo you are right about that, Ellen. I had a self hypnosis video tape that worked so good getting to sleep, it was supposed to be for tapping in to past lives...well, I never had a lick of past life experience, but I could count on it to put me out no matter how bug-eyed awake I was.

Good luck with the naturopath, let us know how that works out, please.

My mentor was a PT and she swore by accupuncture for many problems! :-)

Hi Gena- I just noticed you post. Speaking of insomnia...it's 3am in Ct. and I was going to the kitchen for a snack (nothing crazy, just some sugar free jello) but decided to come on here and do a little reading instead.

We use Melatonin around our house too.... we use 3mg and my mama uses 5mg because she has a harder time falling asleep. Good Luck!
