Dear God bring a massage school to my area

I love to get massages! It's SO much more than just getting a muscle rub. The relaxation benefits and stress relief have a huge impact on your health.
There's a lady who comes to the gym in my town about twice a month, but she charges $60 an hour and stays booked while she's here. So my poor hubby is stuck doing it for free. I demand it regularly, so I have him pretty well trained.

*lol* Skinny you get it for free? Awesome!! :-)

I'm with you! I'm glad you know HOW much the students appreciate your coming in. It irked me a little that my school charged at all. Students can massage one another but it is not at all the same thing...there is no other way to prove your hands are ready for the world.

Laura, good for you! What a darling you have found.

Most mates get tired quickly...the key for them is to vary the kind of strokes used...use the side of the arm in sweeps...knuckles, elbows, where deep pressure feels good.

The easiest way to extend one's repetoire is to get a Couples Massage tape at the library...books are okay, but watching it is much better...put a soft cushion on the floor and practice what you see...run the tape back and repeat it until you know it...then try another stroke.

If you find a tape you like, make or buy a copy for home.

My hubby has great hands...I think he is better than I am! ;-)

Thanks, very useful info on massages for couples.

I am going to buy a tape on massage and introduce it to my husband too. He doesn't believe in massages and calls them vodoo along with aroma therapy... but he WILL learn.

Debbie, you deserve it after all your hard work at exercise!
(rub his shoulders a little when he's feeling beat...that's a good intro heh)...then ask him to do that to you a day later

If you get into a little habit of doing at the right time and asking in return, it becomes something you normally share.

If you are interested, I could post a few strokes to build on, with illustrations... from photobucket. It shouldn't affect the bandwidth here(?)

*lol* Tatiana, well, again, a little shoulder rub goes a long way to start...good for you for getting a tape!

Debbie, if you haven't, try resting for a few days. If that doesn't work, then try Interval training and follow one of the programs you can find in google, sports medicine or body building etc. Even at my weight and age, I was shocked after not exercising for so long how much I improved in such a short period of time by following some of the guidelines.

I have a separated pelvis and herniated disc in my neck, plus severe female problems and I workout 4-6 times a week with no soreness or lactic acid buildup.

I went from not exercising for awhile to walking/jogging 45 min and from jogging @ 2.0 to 12 min stretches @ 4.0+ in about 5-6 weeks. I did read that it's not extremely important to stretch before, just a warm up but absolutely necessary to stretch afterwards.

If you haven't had a massage...you are missing out!

I want to go back to the dr and say hey can you prescribe me physical therapy again just so I can get a professional massage from the clinic I went to. I had never had one until I was in a car accident; each week would be a different therapist and there is definitely a difference in each person's technique.

For Christmas last year, I bought a massager from Bath & Body works that has little ridges on it and a few bottles of massage oil for my husband...little did he know it was really for me. Cherry & Black currant is wonderful and he offers to massage my back & legs weekly of course, when I do his back, he's snoring by the time I'm done.
