Hey ya'll...I know some people are looking for exercises that can be done at home...I thought it would be fun to list some of our "favorite" free/cheap exercises...if you have some..join in..

*a disclaimer....I taught aerobics (kickboxing/hi-lo/basic/step) in the past for about 10 years...but before you do any exercise you should consult your doc first (my hubby is an attorney..I am just covering my booty)..and speaking of booty's here is my favorite...

Potty Booty Drop...this can be done anywhere there is seating (chair or couch) but over the potty is the best..cause after 10-12 you can rest...

*Plant feet shoulder width apart, curl toes upward (this allows your weight to be on your heels)..slowly squat down until your booty hovers near the brim (almost touching)...squeeze up (that is one) continue until you reach 10-12

Microwave meltdown....easy to get in..if you cook or nuke for your family

*Depending on the length of time you have micro set for...do an activity until you hear the beep..it can be anything, jumping jacks, shadow boxing, situps, *I personally like to do counter pushups and walking lunges...I just lean on counter top and do as many pushups as I can before beep or lunge myself across the room.

Commercial countdown...nice, If you watch alot (or a little) of tv ..like me

*Easy to explain...during every commercial break..do SOMETHING...same as microwave meltdown...*good thing is that these breaks are usually longer..you can get free weights (if you use them) in there...ex. one 3 commercial break..do biceps..next 3 commercial break..do lats (back)..last 3 commercial break...biceps (again)

You can work every part of your body without weights...you can use your own body weight for resistance or if you want resistance, use water jugs, cans or even children

Lastly, don't be embarassed...so what if you lunge yourself to the dinner table with mashed potatoes in your hands...your body will thank you for it...

Oh my, I thought I was going to burst my side laughing at the potty one. Hey along with that when you come back up do some Keegle (?) exercises to benefit in more ways than one

Last year when we had a bday party I found a piece of icing I had missed; shame shame. I bent down to get it up and it smeared; then I got on my hands and knees and scrubbed the area and decided the rest of the floor was a mess and got a scrub brush, on my hands and knees and did the whole floor - 15 x 20 tiled kitchen. 980 calories later, I was tired & sore and my tile looked great. Now I have a floor scrubber - guess I'm getting lazy in my old age lol

Cabinets are a great way to work almost every part of your body too - clean them out, re-arrange them and the drawers also, then wash and dry using both arms so you get a good workout. To go the "extra mile" i.e. burn more calories - polish them. Do the same thing with your food pantry.

Who needs water pills....if it's hot outside, use caution of course and drink plenty of water. Sweep, rake, trim, mow or just sit outside and get a tan and soak up the vitamin D.

Washing your car - then waxing and cleaning the inside burns about 500 cal per hour.

Not sure I want to be too specific, sex doesn't burn alot of calories BUT it can tone arms, legs, butt and stomach muscles - which should be repeated daily - refer back to the keegle exercises. Refer to your local library or internet for specifics on "The Sex Diet".

The one I found to help me the most lately: get on your hands/knees, raise your right arm and left leg straight out, hold for 3 sec; then lower - keep your abs firm but not crunched. Raise your left arm and right leg the same way, hold for 3 sec, lower and repeat. Tones/stregthens abs, back, butt.

Oh girlfriend I always do exercises during commercials.... my husband usually laughs at me but I do it all the time It's good for ya! I got my Mama doing it too.... seems to help!

When I sit at the computer I'm always doing leg lifts... just lifting both feet up under my desk all the way up and you feel your thigh muscles tighten up.... and also tighten my tummy while sitting here... it becomes a natural thing to do after a while. lol

I like the idea of doing exercises while watching commercials or waiting for microwave or something. I don't know why I didn't think of it.
A few things I do.. I buy the 1 gallon jugs of water for only 69 cents each at my store and I use that to exercise the arms. I use one at a time and do bicep curls with it. Samething can be done with the jug of cat litter that's 14 pounds. I also do leg lifts and stretches in bed before going to sleep. The bed is easiest for me since I can't get down on the floor due to joint issues. I also do stomach exercises at work, home everywhere. I just hold in my stomach and different parts of the abs and actually keep trying to do the roll you see belly dancers do. I can't really do it but I keep trying. It really works those muscles. Plus, I have ankle weights (1 pound each ankle) and wear those for a few hours at home. just wear them no matter what I do. I can really feel it when I take the weights off. lol

That's all I can think of at the moment. but if I think of more i'll post them. Since money is tight for me, I'm always on the look out for free things to do and like reading what every body else does.
