Hello!!! I know Ian posted something awhile ago about ab workouts but I could not download it because I have a mac that is very stubborn!!! My main question is what do you do when you have mostly belly fat and not much else Im talking a HUGE amount of belly fat. WHat do you do!!!! I heard if you start your situps first that you will never get rid of the fat and you have to do a lot of cardio to shrink the abdomen first and then tone with situps then i have heard that is malarky! Anyone know what to do!! I also heard that If you have an excessive about of belly fat that your stomach will never be flat! that came out of an old trainers mouth! I wanted to smack him!!!! oppps! Anyways then I was wondering if anyone knew of a super super quick and effective way to target the abs especially the LOWER ABS!!!! OR LOWER FAT!!! Don't think I have ever had any ABS my entire life!!!! My most depressing area is my stomach! My fiance laughs at me because I will dance to the song fergalicious while grabbing my belly fat and bouncing it around and changing the words to IM LARDALICIOUS!!! Ya so sorry for painting that pic in your head but I really need to loose that belly lard as soon as possible! Its ruining selfesteem correction it already has, and my sex life oh wait it already has!
Please HELP ME! sigh

Hi!

Unfortunately, your trainer is right. You can not pick and choose where you lose the fat, you can only burn off as much as possible and hope that your most resistant areas eventually shrink down after you've lost it everywhere else. Depressing, I know.

The number fat cells you have is determined in early childhood, and once it's set, it's set for life. When we gain weight, we're not adding fat cells, we're plumping up the ones we already have, and if you have more fat cells around the belly than anywhere else, that's where it's gonna show more, and that's where it's gonna take the most time to get rid of. You can do all the abdominal exercises you want, and they WILL tighten and tone the abs so you hold them in better and stand with better posture, but they won't do a single thing for the fat. Only losing the weight will do that.

One other fabulous fact (not) is that once we ladies reach about 40, the hormonal changes in our bodies cause any fat we gain to be deposited first--guess where-- in the abdomen!!

The skin's another issue... between pregnancy and weight gain, once the skin is stretched, it's stretched, and if you've lost a lot then there's every probability that you'll have excess hanging there once the fat's not there to fill it out.

God, what a ray of sunshine I am this morning! Sorry, I just don't want you to be operating under any misconceptions. It is just impossible to direct where the fat's going to disappear from, and you DO want to exercise to tighten up underneath it (and that alone will make it look like you've lost more than you have), but you're at the mercy of your genes as to how the fat will go away.

Ya thats what I kinda figured Tummy tuck here I come after two more kids!!! Well I hope to have my last baby at 30 so I will give myself a great birthday present a trip to the plastic surgeon!!!! lol thanks for all the advise anyways!!!! I will still do crunches and cardio to loose as much as I can around the tummy but oh well....... Thank you guys!
