So I just started Phen last Friday July 11th and since then I have been working out with my husband and friend but mainly just cardio excercise. I walk with my friend at 6am and she walks slower than I do so I wear weights on my ankles so that I can still get a good work out from it We walk for about 30 mins or so. Then in the evening I swim a few laps with my husband in our pool (20-40) and after dinner we walk to the track by our house and I both walk and jog so I get my heart rate up and down. We are usually there for an hour. I am really not doing any strength training or anything...do you think that's ok? We have some dumbbells that I could use but I am trying to stick to what it motivating me right now and my schedule seems to be working right now. I just want to make sure I optimize my workouts so that I get the best results for myself. Any suggestions would be great.. Thnx

Some days I want to work out even more and since I work from home I was thinking of on my lunch break maybe fitting in a 20 min video or something...the more workout the better right?

Just in my opinion, but I think that is a great workout regiment that you currently have. Keep in mind, muscle burns fat. If you can incorporate some weight training that would probably be beneficial to you. Swimming is an awesome overall body excercise for cardio and using almost every muscle you have. I would just track your results. If your body becomes used to your current routine, change it up a bit after a few weeks. Update us on your progress. I read these forums a lot and use different things others do.

Hi Jen,

Your routine sounds great, you are very motivated! I think Neil is correct in commenting that you need to vary your workout after a while though too. Sometimes it is hard when you get in a schedule and you are so used to your work-outs. But your body needs the challange to continue to lose weight. I have experienced this myself; I used to just run and do some other cardio 6 days a week, and when I added three days of strength training it really made a difference in weight loss and body shape for me. I think you are doing an awesome job, and having others to exercise with makes a huge difference. I do all my strength training with my husband, and I love it! I think its cool to be the only female spotting a guy in the gym too! Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress!

Wow sounds like you're doing great.
Here's an idea. I use pool weights and do my strength training in the pool. Bed, Bath and Beyond has a nice set for $30.
Also the weights you use in the morning will help strengthen your legs.
