I found your site while scouring newsgroups for info on using phentermine long-term. I'm 140kg and have two older brothers one of whom has been 200kg at one point and the other who must be 180kg. That's 309lbs, 441lbs and 396lbs respectively, so much for the argument against genetics

I lost 32kg/71lbs in 8 months back in '94 thanks to a relationship that kept the serotonin pumping, messing with serotonin certainly seems to be the key with me because when I later tried adifax (fentermine) for the two months before it was unfairly banned I lost a pile of weight, then I found 3M Duromine (phentermine) and was happily surprised to experience the same result.

But closed minded doctors here won't prescribe it for over 3 months, and some won't prescribe it at all because I should be, you know, eating right and exercising... well I do exercise, pretty damned hard, but my eating is at the pinnacle of evolution, in a word where food is scarce I'm supremely adapted to stuff myself at every opportunity, to get hungry at the smell of food even when I was already full, it's brilliant how it works but now that you don't have to club a giraffe over the head and there's food everywhere I go, that particular adapation isn't such a good thing.

So I need a doctor who understands that and doesn't tell me I lack willpower, God I hate that, when presented with the choice of 'not eating a sausage roll' and 'eating the sausage roll and throwing it up' I'll have my head down a toilet 10 minutes later yet if you offer a skinny person money to throw up it'll take more than $100 to buy enough willpower in them to do something I do just for a snack

Anyway I'm hoping to take the lowest effective dose of phentermine I can get away with for as long as it takes, are there any safe places to get it on the internet?

Thanks for hosting this site, boy do we need it!!!! Oh yeah quick background, when I left school in '83 I was captain of the cycle road racing team, cross country team member once, a-grade badminton team interclub member, fit, strong, skinny, it was only when that insane level of exercise every day stopped that the weight piled on.

The brother who hit 200kg/441lbs used to own a newspaper agency while at high school and would ride four paper routes on his bicyle before school. Again, more willpower than most skinny folk could dream of but sadly the body actually uses willpower to oppose the free-willpower we have.

What stops would-be suiciders from slitting their wrists? They have the will to do it but their subconscious simply has a greater will to NOT do it. I think this balance needs to be considered before saying people have a lack of willpower. What they have is a greater willpower to not vent their veins, just as the will and drive to eat can be so strong in some of us.

Holy crap that wasn't an intro, it was a 20 page rant - sorry!!! Touchy subject huh :-D

:-D HI Im from oz your neighbour.I am taking Duromine at the momment and love the appetite numbing affects it has.You should go to another doctor in your area. The weight loss is a much healthier option on the duro, compared to the side affects. The worst being sleeplessness/rapid heart rate.It so easy for a skinny person to say use willpower. My dad was always at me about losing weight,he would say"just dont eat".I would say "OOOOHHHH so thats how you do it,why didnt I think of that before".He drinks beer and shots of boubon every night.I told him"you go without your beer/bourbon for one week and see how long you last".He didnt say anything accept a shoulder shrug.I dont smoke[gave up years ago]dont drink accept once in a while. The only bad habit I have is eating and I am working on that right now!Dont give up hope find a new doctor and get on the duro.GOOD LUCK!!!

ah yes, smoking. 200kg brother announced one day that two packs a day was too expensive so simply quit,no patches no hypno no drama, he just stopped. Years later he is still smoke free. Say bye bye to the willpower theory

Thanks for the support, will take that advice

willpower, huh? I think the flipside of that coin is addictive personalities. Which of course have nothing to do with your personality. It's the reason I can't take any medicine stonger than Tylenol! Smoking and eating are my addictions. Good thing I discovered quickly that alchohol gives me heartburn or I'd be a total lush! I found out that the addictive personality can be linked to some kind of genetics, which can account for some families where everyone is big and can't fight it. That's why I joined here today. My family all suffers from the same problem, and most of them just say "it's genetic, so there's no point in fighting it." I am hoping that if I can show them that I can fight it and beat it maybe at least some of them will follow suit, and we can all live happier and healthier.
