Which is probably why I am still up at 1:30 p.m. For the past six months I've been trying to lose the same thirty pounds. I'm 5'7 and want to be back to 135 (10 years ago). I had hoped to reach this goal by my 35th birthday (10/23), but realize it will not happen. I've tried everything (exercise, personal trainer, eating six small healthy meals with the appropriate carbs and protiens, Wellbutrin), so my Doctor gave me a prescription for Adipex. I lost about 7 pounds on Wellbutrin and with the exercise over the last couple of months. Hopefully I'll be able to reach at least 145 by my b-day. Today, I definately noticed that I was not hungry (after most of the day had gone by). I'll have to be more conscious about it tomorrow to make sure I eat. I have enjoyed reading the other posts on this site and hope to record my journey over the next couple of months and to hear about yours.

Hi. I too want to be back to 135 except I have 60 plus pounds to go! I used to be at this stand still with 30 lbs...30 lbs...I just hated those 30 lbs...and I was stuck. Well, looking back, I must of been 'depressed' technically, because I just felt hopeless and then just lived life not paying attention and gained another 30. It is great that you are trying this method now, I really hope that you achieve your goal. I just joined this site yesterday and already I have been greeted with replies of encouragement and support. I need that sooo much right now and I am here to do the same for others. My 30th bday is in February, 6 months...I hope to celebrate it too with a a new me! There are a lot of us going through the same struggle and if you read some of the posts...you'll see some great successes also....It will happen for you, believe it! Good luck!

Sounds like we need to start a "going for 135" club. That's my goal too. I've got a lot further to go than the two of you though. Today was my weigh in day and I am now at 247. From 264. I'm not taking any medications. From what I have heard here, some peple have a hard time even eating the minimum of what they should on the med. You might want to try FitDay.com It helps you monitor what your eating and see the nutrients your getting. I use it to keep myself from going over, but it seems like it would be good to help you make sure your getting enough to maintain your health! It also helps you monitor activity and calorie burning. I've talked about it in several other places on this Forum. I log on to it at least 2x a day to record everything. Also, I log in here at least 3 or 4 times a day. The support here is great. Lots of times I start questioning myself and my ability. You know, why bother? When I come here I can be reminded by myself and by the wonderful people who always support me. Please consider starting your diary as soon as possible. I started mine with a story of my life. It helps me remember all that I have survived through and that helps me know I can get through this. It also helps others to understand you better and know more of how to help support you. Good luck

Hi Sheila, Zoe and others!

I needed a break from working...so started to browse and ended up right here on this forum (after registering). I am in the UK but am Belgian really (husband is British). I am a serial yoyo dieter and have been for about 20 years. I am 5' 8" and weigh in at about 180 pounds. I wish I was lighter but it is just not happening, even though I swim for 30 minutes every morning before going to work : (
I am currently working on a new site which will be covering everything plus size in the US and the UK. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO fed up with seeing banners, pop ups etc on other sites...that I decided even if it would take me about 2 years to finish the whole thing I would. I want to provide INFORMATION to people!

If you feel down about your size, have a look at the section that says plus size models and click on the galleries...I know it made ME feel a lot better. It goes to show you don't have to be a size 6 to be succesful

Cheers and good luck with the weight loss!

I was looking at the websited you posted the link for. It is very interesting, especially for those who have decided that they are happy with the size they are. I think most of us here would only want to have any use for those links very temporarily. I'm glad there are so many places that show that women can be proud of who they are no matter what. I only have concern when being overweight is actually encouraged. I haven't really looked closely at all the links there, but the ones that I did look at didn't really say anything one way or the other. I think that's good, because it doesn't encourage being overweight, but doesn't judge against you because of it either. Thanks for the info.

Welcome to all the new members. I signed up for fitday yesterday and it's been really helpful. I like how it shows a graph for carbs, fat, and calories that I have eaten and it compares how many calories I have eaten and how many calories I burned through working out. I'm almost done with taking phen and I've noticed a little bit of an increase in my appetite at the end of the day, so I definately need this to keep track of what I'm eating and how much. I'm glad I was only prescribed 15mg of phen because it didn't affect me to the point of where I wasn't eating. It just made me eat less of what I was eating at that time. It makes it harder to lose weight when your not eating anything because your body goes into starvation and it doesn't want to get rid of the fat so you don't lose any weight. Good luck to you guys.

Thanks very much for your feedback, Zoe. Also, sorry for a late reaction...but we have 9 hours of time difference between us :(
It was very good of you to notice that I do NOT encourage anything at all on the website...just try and be as unbiased as I can. My starting point was: 3 out of 4 people in the US and the UK are overweight...they need clothes...jewellery etc. BUT I am convinced that people being BIG and HAPPY are a small minority which is where all the info on weight loss comes into place...which is also why I ended up signing up for this forum, as I am reviewing diet pills and patches at the moment...not an easy job with all the choice there is.

I am also going to include a chapter on diets for pets (I don't know about the US, but in the UK most pets are overweight too :o ), plus a section for men and weight loss. Many people for example don't seem to know that men can suffer from eating disorders the same as women can...

It is true that being big does not have to be encouraged, I think that is like "positive discrimation"....oh by the way...I put in my first note that I am 180 pounds which is WRONG ( I think in stone and pounds and was a bit quick at converting...)...it is actually 170 pounds...still about 15 too many...but at least I walk and swim every day and eat a lot of fruit and veg, as I am very health conscious really.
In the UK I can't seem to get a prescription for Phentermine...even though it might just be called differently. Are there any side effects?

Cheers, folks!
