Hello everyone.

I am so glad that I found this site. It has already been helpful to me just by reading some posts. I just started phen last Friday (not a great experience see my post reply to mixing alcohol with it) and so far have dropped nearly 4 pounds. I lost nearly ten before that on my own but keep gaining it back then got stuck. I don't need to lose that much, 25 to 30 pounds was my goal when I started and I lost so four, yay. I just wanted to get to a normal, healthy weight range for my limited height of barely 5 feet. I am experiencing a lot of side effects and so am proceeding with caution from this point. Hopefully my body will adjust to it and they will wear off or at least not be as strong. Look forward to meeting and chatting with you all.

Welcome to the group. One question to start off: did you get your medication from a doctor or ordered on line? What is your goal weight? Being that height is very hard. I am 5'3" but my daughter has to stand REAL straight to hit 5 ft. She has always felt a struggle over very few pounds. At that height, even a few pounds can make a difference. Well, we will all help you if we can.

Thanks for the welcome! Well I got mine online. I was told by one doctor months ago that I needed to lose weight and that the excess weight that I mostly carry around my middle was the likely cause or at least severely aggravating my IBS (irritable bowel syndome). At that time I was around 145 lbs. Two weeks ago when I ordered the phentermine I was at 142 despite the fact that I was eating much better and exercising whenever I could. Before phentermine arrived I kicked off a few more pounds and was at 135 or 6. I am now at 131 since starting phentermine. My doctor said I should drop to 105 taking into account my height and small frame. That was the weight I used to be when I was fit and 19. Well 9 years later I don't even remember being that weight but if it means that my IBS goes away or at least becomes milder than I am determined to get their again. Besides I am sick of people asking me "when are you due?" How do you say I am not pregnant just fat, thanks? It is definitely hard to carry any extra weight when you are very petite.

My daughter is also ideal weight 105. I am trying to get to 135. I hit 264 before I finally faced myself. It has now been 8 weeks and I have lost 22 pounds. I am not using any kind of medication. I also have IBS. I was told the same thing about the weight. I've still got 108 pounds to go, and I know it's going to take time, but I will get there. It hasn't been nearly as hard this time as other times I've tried. I think because this time I decided to "change my lifestyle" instead of dieting. I focus on making sure my meals are balance and the right amounts and becoming more active instead of focusing on how much weight I'm losing. The weight loss just seems to come along with it.

That is great that you are doing so well. I also stopped trying dieting. I was never disciplined enough to stick to it anyway so I just started making small changes. I don't eat junkfood anymore. Although I admit I have a sweet tooth
and chocolate is a weakness during that fun time of the month. I think I have the eating habits down pretty well, certainly much better than previously but I don't have the exercise part down yet. I will be good for awhile but then I fall off the wagon. And I enjoy working out. I just lack energy and drive. What do you do get your exercise in? I stopped taking my Zelnorm for IBS, which wasn't all that helpful anyway and I hope that I can lose the weight make IBS disappear. I 'm sure you know it is no fun to have. Is your daughter losing weight with you? It would be nice to have a buddy there with you. My poor husband is complaining there is no food in the house (that he wants to eat). But I refuse to cook what I can't eat!

We don't let my daughter even think the Diet word. She is 20 now and tells me she can diet if she wants to but we have had three major bouts with anorexia with her. First one when she was only 7 yrs old. She has chubby cheeks and always will and she sees that as a sign of being fat. We are just happy if she doesn't drop below 100. I have problems keeping myself motivated for excercise too. Sometimes I use some crazy excuses not to. I had to fix the fence where the horses broke through today so I don't need to excercise. Ha! It only took 20 minutes to fix the fence and I only had to walk about 30 feet. I can't afford to go to a gym so I just try to keep it at least a little fun. I use Richard Simmons "Sweating to the Oldies" 1 and 2 and "Disco Sweat". My mom recorded them for me onto one video tape so I just do one then the next day do the next one. That way I get the variety instead of getting bored with the same thing over and over. I come from a long line of dance teachers so these tapes are more fun for me. I also found video tapes of our recitals when I was a teenager and I try to do my old dances along with it. It doesn't matter what you do as long as you do something. Find something fun. Try to think of something you used to do as a kid or something you always wanted to try and just do it. It doesn't matter if your good at it or not as long as you enjoy it. If you just say, I gotta go workout now, you will always find an excuse not to. Keep it fun. That's my best advice.

Keep loggin on and reading, you will find great support and see that there are a lot of people with similar struggles.
That why we are here. Just be careful, since you are only trying to lose 25 lbs or so...it is different than those of us that need to lose 50-60 lbs or more. I WISH it was only 25 lbs for me! Keep your focus, but please be careful.

Thanks for the support CNSlim and Zoey. I feel a thousand times better about trying this with such wonderful people to talk to. I know I am lucky to have a small goal. I am definitely being careful, especially after th eside effects. I just want more control over my weight I don't want to lose to fast and just gain it all back or get sick.
