Hi All - for me the phentermine helps but it's not all about hunger. I binge eat when stressed and this is the main issue I need to work on. Are there any other stress binge eaters in the group? Also, I have a lot of self-hatred for my body. Whenever I look in the mirror, I am intensely critical. I know this is really bad and just makes me more depressed and stressed. I am trying to change my thinking to a more positive outlook and say at least one nice thing to the me in the mirror. I'm looking for a diet buddy who can give me some support with these issues. I don't have a lot of weight to lose (15 pounds). I do well for several days and then ruin it with a binge....
Best wishes to all in their weight loss journey, LC (just like Elsie)

I COMPLETELY understand. I avoid mirrors if possible because I am absolutely disgusted. I have a lot more weight to lose than you, though. It's good that you are pep-talking yourself, keep it up! Personally, I very rarely even wear make-up anymore because while I'm putting it on I think "what's the point? everyone's going to be looking at my fat rolls anyway" A lot of us binge eat when stressed. Then when we put on weight we become depressed, and binge because of that, and when we try to lose weight we get stressed again, and binge again, and it goes on and on. I'm sure you'll fit right in here!!

Thanks for the supportive message. It sounds like you struggle with self-loathing too. I saw a little article on emotional abuse on a website.
Emotional Abuse
Its hard to pinpoint emotional abuse. Most of us get our feelings hurt on a regular basis, so its really hard to catch if you're being abused emotionally. You could be abused by boyfriends, parents, husbands, friends, teachers/coaches, family members, or even yourself. A good way to figure it out is to look at your life from an outside view. Like looking at yourself from a window. If you have ANYONE who consistently makes you feel bad about yourself, or hurts your feelings, then they are abusing you emotionally. Emotional abuse should not be looked past, it can be as damaging as any other form of abuse. So if you think someone around you is abusing you I strongly encourage you to get help. Most women think that if they are not being physically hurt, that there is nothing wrong, but thats so far from the truth!

The sad thing is I abuse myself! I'm the one that makes me feel bad every day. I'm going to keep struggling to get over it because I think it goes hand in hand with weight loss. As you said, we get into a cycle that's bad when we are mean to ourselves. Good luck to you too.

Mama, I live in wv also. In Weston. How are you doing on the Phen. I did good the first week but it doesn't seem to be working well this week so Ive put back on a couple of the pounds that I lost. Its frustrating. Hope you are doing good on it..
