Thanks for the supportive message. It sounds like you struggle with self-loathing too. I saw a little article on emotional abuse on a website.
Emotional Abuse
Its hard to pinpoint emotional abuse. Most of us get our feelings hurt on a regular basis, so its really hard to catch if you're being abused emotionally. You could be abused by boyfriends, parents, husbands, friends, teachers/coaches, family members, or even yourself. A good way to figure it out is to look at your life from an outside view. Like looking at yourself from a window. If you have ANYONE who consistently makes you feel bad about yourself, or hurts your feelings, then they are abusing you emotionally. Emotional abuse should not be looked past, it can be as damaging as any other form of abuse. So if you think someone around you is abusing you I strongly encourage you to get help. Most women think that if they are not being physically hurt, that there is nothing wrong, but thats so far from the truth!
The sad thing is I abuse myself! I'm the one that makes me feel bad every day. I'm going to keep struggling to get over it because I think it goes hand in hand with weight loss. As you said, we get into a cycle that's bad when we are mean to ourselves. Good luck to you too.
