I'm experiencing a very scary "reaction" to phentermine 37.5. I only took the meds for two weeks until I started feeling shortness of breath and chest pains. It went away after about 6 days only to come back. I went to a Doc in a Box just to get a quick check and their test came back positive for heart problems and my EKG had some elevation. I was then sent to ER. There they performed similar test but all were inconclusive. They sent me home with the same chest pains and shortness of breath. I also have shaky hands but this could be from the severe stress and nervousness of the ordeal. I have another Dr.'s appointment Friday and I'm praying for more info. I've checked the symptoms online and they all lead to Pulmonary Hypertension or Pulmonary Embolism which are both treatable but there is no cure. They also have a high death rate. I am very very very nervous. Has anyone had or no someone with similar symptoms but it ended up being something less tragic. Please respond. While I've placed the situation in God's hands I can't help but be nervous and anxious.

I'm not really sure what your question is or how to respond other than to say obviously you shouldn't be taking phentermine if you are having that kind of very serious reaction - downplaying what happened to you by putting reaction in quotes makes me wonder if you are trying to ask if maybe just maybe this is something that will 'go away' and you want to hear that it is ok that you still take the pills? I surely hope not!

Also if you are still having the shortness of breath and chest pains why on earth would you wait until Friday to see your doctor? If you called your doctor and told them how serious your symptoms are I would think they would have told you to come in right away.

Best of luck to you, good to hear that you are praying and seeking God's guidance.

You should not be taking phentermine if you had that kind of reaction to them.

Thanks for responding, but no I'm not interested in taking the meds again at all. I am only interested in finding out if my condition is serious or if someone has had a similar reaction and it passed without causing seroius health problems. I've been to two doctors already and the ER. The ER said that all my tests were negative and there was no significant problem. They discharged me. I also called my Dr.'s office to move my appointment up but there were no vacancies. I did not express a sense of urgency to them only because I had already gone to ER and been released. I am not trying to down play this at all. I just wanted to hear if someone had experienced anything similar and came out okay. It's just I only hear and see positive stuff about phen, when I'm sure I'm not the only one to have a "reaction" meaning not a "symptom". Thanks for the responses....

Hi Malsgirl, I'm not a doctor, but it sounds to me like shortness of breath. That is considered a reaction, not a side effect. Not only should you see your physician as soon as possible , you should stop taking them immediately. If it gets any worse I would go to the E.R.

Thanks... I didn't take it Saturday and I felt fine. I took half on Sunday and felt fine, but I decided to not take it this week and see a doctor. I will let you all know how it goes... Thanks aga ...
This was posted almost 3 weeks ago. I advised you at that time to please see your doctor or go to the E.R. Why did you wait? dawg

I went to my doctor, but they can't identify the problem. I've taken several tests with no specific diagnosis. I stopped taking Phen when you advised me too. I'm still feeling the effects and I've seen many doctors.

Hi Malsgirl, I have quite a bit of information on this, as well as links from the sites to more information. One thing I feel really strongly about, You will have to be painfully honest with the Doctors about any meds. That is soooo very important. It can often times mean the difference between a diagnosis and knowing how to treat it or a bunch of Docs, standing around, scratching their heads and looking confused. If you will send me your email address in a pm, I will forward the information that I have and the links to other sites as well. Good Luck, Hon, and We will be praying for you. dawg

I'm not sure how this system works exactly but I sent you a message Top Dawg and don't know if you'll get it. Now I'll post it here. I got my results from my echo and the Cardiologist stated that I have some pressure-29 when the norm is 25 in a pulmonary artery. Only one of three appears to have pressure. I was advised to have another echo in 6 months to check the status but in the mean time live normally. I'm really nervous, but my Dr. doesn't lead me to believe it's currently life threatening. I pray not! I don't know if I should stand on faith and wait the 6 months out or if I should have a second opinion... I'm debating now. Anyway thanks for all your help and any info or sites you may have please send them to me. Oh and I have been totally honest with all of the Dr's that I've met with to discuss my situation. I just hope they are advising me correctly.
