Hi all,
I went to my doctor on Monday and ask for a script for phentramine and he would not give it . He said it was nothing more than speed and instead is weaning me off my effexor and giving me prozac instead. I have already lost a couple of pounds with this meds switch. But I hear this prozac induced loss is short-lived and that I will problably even end up gaining from the prozac once I get used to it.
My doctor did give me the name and # of a doctor in the area who would prescribe it to me but it's very expensive.
Ian , I saw that you suggested the Phentatrim to someone who was taking a break from the phen . Can you provide some info on this product. Thanks!

Jeanie, it's easy to look it up on the web. What it is basically is an all natural herbal Phentermine. It does basically the same thing. Appitite supression that is.
This is about the simplest explanation I've found for it...

Phentramin is designed to produce effects similar to the most popular prescription weight loss medications.

* Decreases Appetite
* Increases metabolism
* Stimulates thermogenesis
* Acts as a mild diuretic
* Increases energy

If you have more questions let me know!
Good luck!

:-D Welcome to this forum, Jeanie! I am always glad to see someone new has joined and I loved your question about Phentatrim. I just read posts from Amanda and Ian explaining what it is and it might be enlightening for me to look it up as Amanda suggested. It might be the answer for lots of folks who become immune to the Phen.

:grin: Please post again soon and let us know what you decide to buy. For me, phen was worth it because I got it when I needed it badly. Now that I am learning to eat healthily, I might wean off this onto Phentatrim.

5-HTP is also something I have heard the bosses (Ian, Top-Dawg and Amanda) recommend, and it is available for less than $10 at WalMart. I am on Prozac, too, but be sure and check with Top Dawg before just adding 5-HTP in because of possible interactions for you.

Again, we are so glad to have you and please write again! :grin:

B-12 I've heard is actually better than the 5thp. I've tried neither of them because I"m not on Phen anymore, but from what I've been told B-12 is great to give it an extra boost. Seeing as how you are on Phen either though I'm not sure how it would work LOL
Do keep us posted if you decide to try the Phentramin...I'm curious about it also

Ive taken the 5 htp and it was ok i didnt really feel any different and i build a ressistance to phen quickly and ive done the b12 and did nothing. I talked to my pharmacist here ( iasked if he could give me a b12 shot and he couldnt cause it was script i didnt know a vitamin was a RX) but he said the pill form gets excreted hope i spelled that right too fast to have time to absorb into the body and ive done the sublingual also and it didnt do anything ive heard when you get the shot it is like a major boost but i dont know cause my crappy doc says im not low in b12 so he wont give me a shot.

Hi, Jeanie! Did you try another drug to help with the weight loss? I am wondering about your going off Effexor and onto Prozac. I have heard sometimes it is VERY hard to come off the Effexor. Have you had any problems with it?:confused:
