Hi Everybody,
My Dr. prescribed Phentermine 30mg and just started this morning and stumbled on this forum..looks like lots of good information here and I'll try to stick around and contribute.

I am a 55 year old male and when I quit smoking about 20 years ago I added about 30 lbs right away and then slowly crept up to my present weight of 235 just recently. I don't do alot of formal exercise but I am pretty active with outdoor activities and in reasonably good shape. The extra baggage is just slowing me down and I know that at my age it probably would be much better for my overall health to lose weight.

[size="4"][color="Teal"]Hey there tsummers, just wanted to pop in and say welcome! This is a great place for motivation & support. Lots of great ideas & helpful tips. Check out some journals & maybe think about startin one of your own too. As far as the extra baggage that you mentioned goes, I completely understand. I am workin on the same thing. Always was pretty active but felt like the extras were slowing me down, hard on the body yaknow. Feelin lots better now, but still got aways to go. It's amazing at how little weight it takes to slow the body down, but you are gonna see too how good it feels to just drop a few lbs too. Good luck on your jouney. Keep us updated, look forward to your progress.

Thanks for the comments everyone. No side effects so far other than having a little harder time falling asleep and then staying asleep...I take my dosage at 6:00 a.m.
The biggest change so far has been in watching what I eat..I really have never worried too much about it and loved my ice cream and also donuts.
My wife is a great help and has been in weight watchers so she knows what to "feed me" and I guarantee you it's not donuts and ice cream.
Again, thanx for the motivation

On to month #2 now and so far everything is going well. No problems sleeping now and really no side effects at all other than I have finished all of my "honey do" chores that I have been putting off for years and started powerwashing and painting all of the decks on my house.

The phen has certainly helped but I have also completely changed my diet and started exercising. Lots of fish, chicken, turkey, pork, and salads and ZERO sweets in over a month
