This is my second post and I must agree w/ 'term' (that's what my sister and I call phentermine) is better than antidepressent for me too. I've been on lexapro and ran out of term and was so depressed and all i wanted to do was sleeep. Just took a 15mg term and am feeling awesome. So weird.

I'm the exact opposite. I've been on Phen for 4 months and stopped because of the depression. Even with exercise and proper diet started to gain the weight back almost immediately. I become so easily depressed that I joked with my endo that she should hand out antidepressants. As well, I'm so moody. The slightest thing makes me irritated. I'm also exhausted, under the care of a nutrionist and I eat 50% protein and this has not helped. I wish it had the same antidepressant effect.

I have been taking Lexapro for about 3 years. I ran out a few weeks before I went to the Dr. for Phen. I have found that the Phen is helping the same way as the Lexapro, at least so far (maybe not enough time to tell yet). I am afraid that my panic and anxiety attacks might come back. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

I was also taking, and should still be taking, Armour (Thyroid Medicine) along with all natural Testosterone cream and Progesterone pills along with other "natural supplements" from my Dr. The first day on Phen. I puked my guts out, had the shakes, didn't sleep for 48 hours. So I stopped taking everything, skipped a few days and then started the Phen 1/2 37.5pill. Yesterday was my first day of the whole pill and I feel fine. I am not going to take the meds for my Thyroid until I drop some pounds. I am afraid to try adding them in after my "sick" episode.

I have fought with fatigue since I was about 20. I think it is CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) but they Thyroid meds were helping a bit. Depending on the day, I can't seem to find anything that works for it.

Okay, I will quit rambling...just wanted to let you know you weren't alone in this....

Oh, one more thing...I have been eating a little snack when I am tired and do find that I do "wake up" a bit about 30 minutes or so later....maybe not eating enough calories to keep our energy up???

I don't remember for certain but I think that anti-depressants work on seratonin levels within the re-uptake inhibitors of certain nerves in the brain. That can cause it to affect our appetite and mood.
For many, anti-depressants and phen work the opposite way than the way they are expected to work. An example of this is that relaxers will cause a child to be hyperactive. And stimulants like Ritalin help them calm down and focus.

You just hit it right on the nose Susan. I was thinking the same exact thing. I don't take anti-depressants. And phen makes me crazy if i dont balance it out with something. I take the 5 HTP for that. It helps me sleep. I mean whats worse than a woman on a rampage. lol A woman who is NOT getting sleep.

I recently had a bad night. I forgot my 5 HTP. And drank a mountain dew at 830pm. Huge mistake. I was up till 4 am!

when i first took phen along time ago i had insane depression, crying over everything, i battle cutting from past abuse and felt urges to cut all the time, i got off and thought i would never take this again, and when my friend was on it, i thought about it and had a script of welbutrin after a break of a bad relationship, so i started taking it with the phen( i won my battle and didnt want to feel that way ever again.) then stopped taking it after i got past the first month. then i heard about the 5htp stuff and wow it really works well. it balances serotonin levels, when they drop you get depression (chemical imbalances happens when it drops) if i ever stop taking phen i will continue to take this stuff. the only depression that i have had now is the basic i hate my job dont want to be single anymore stuff. nothing like i once felt. so maybe you should put the 5htp stuff with it. its strange how at first it caused depression and i had to get off of it and now years later im fine with it.
