I've taken two 3 month supplies of the 37.5 mg phen, one was years ago and the other recently. I never developed a tolerance for them, and I think it was for two reasons....
I don't take them every day. This did not begin intentionally, I would just feel like I didn't need them sometimes, or I would forget. I skip a day or two every week.
And I also found that WHEN I took them in relation to food makes a big difference in the effects I feel. The info that comes with it specifies to take it atleast 30 minutes prior to eating, or 2 hours after a meal. I did notice that if I ate too soon before or after the phen I did not feel the effects as strongly. I don't eat until lunch, which is a habit I've had as long as I can remember-not because of phen-so I take mine in the morning. I'm not sure why this is, or if it's just me. But there has to be a reason why the dosage info is specified that way. I guess that's a question for TopDawg.....

Hi beaucollin...I was just wondering if you are taking anything with caffiene in it as you know caffiene flushes the phen from your system and greatly reduces the effects. Even a little piece of chocolate has enough in it. I dont know if I should say this or not..I will probably get strung up but here goes..my doctor who writes my phentermine prescriptions has told me that she has women on it taking twice the dose and doing ok. They are taking 37.5 in the morning and 37.5 late afternoon. I guess as long as you dont get the jitters and you can sleep at night then it would be ok. I havn't done it myself yet as my 37.5 a day is still working but I might consider upping it a bit when it wears off if the doctor is fine with it. I guess all doctors are different. Also back in June I felt the phen wearing off so I came off it for 2 months and went back on it in August and its working fine again. I dont know if this is true either but I have heard that any anti-inflammitory drug can reduce its effects too (not sure about that). I tried the hoodia too and it was rubbish..it did nothing for me ( yea like thats really what made Oprah loose all that weight!!!!!) I hope you can find a solution soon..Daisy x

You know that makes sense. Today I had a whole pill at 9:45 this morning and was starving by 12:30, But I had a diet coke at about 10 while driving to school. I didn't drink the whole can, maybe half, but I can see how that could be my problem. The first few days I didn't have a diet coke until around dinner time, and the past couple of days I've had one earlier. Thanks for that info daisy!

So does that mean that drinking just water doesn't cause it to flush from your system too soon like soda does? I just realized that I've been drinking more coffee and diet soda the last few weeks than usual because it's not as hot outside as it was earlier. When I'm at work, the building is very hot in the summer and early fall and I have to drink lots of water all day, but now it's cold out and I don't feel the need as much, but I do love coffee and diet soda. I wonder if this is causing some of my phen burn-out. Anyone have any more ideas.

Well, as soon as I read that, I changed my diet soda plan. Instead of in the middle of the day, I either have a soda in the morning beofre I take my pill (about an hour) or later at night, like with dinner. I haven't had any problems so far by doing this, so I definitely think it was the caffiene that did it!

Otherwise you could try caffeine-free diet sodas, like diet Sprite, or Diet Rite. I ONLY drink caffeine-free diet sodas!!! Pretty much diet 7UP or diet Sprite, or diet Sierra Mist.

Yes any diet soda that is caffiene free is ok. Caffiene free diet coke is good too as is any orange sodas..diet fanta, slice etc..beware of mountain dew..it is loaded with caffiene and will get you tweeked at the best of times!!...also the flavoured fizzy waters are great and are all caffiene and calorie free..the peach one is great!

Wow I didn't know that about caffeine. I live on Diet Coke, guess I'd better consider switching over.

One thing that helped me when phen did not seem to work anymore was to discontinue it for a couple of weeks or so. When restarting it worked great.
