Lafrancaise, I am sooo sorry that you have gone through this. I have one bit of advise to offer you that seems to have worked for people I know. Make sure you take a walk every day. Take 30 minutes out of your day and walk at a steady pace. Try a park or the mall early in the morning or just around your neighborhood. This will take time to help you but in the long run, you will feel better. As for your doctor prescribing you the prozac, do you feel like it is helping you? That is what is most important. If not, maybe you should contact a weight loss clinic in your area that can help put more of a focus on your weight and how to most effectively lose it. Good luck!

I agree with blondefrost, your doctor sounds like a bit of a quack. You should go to someone who specializes in weight issues. Good luck!

Ive been taking phentermine off and on for 5 years. I believe Im addicted to it. It was what always worked to help me lose weight and I would get off of it, and gain weight back every time. I think I need to find a better solution. There is a history of heart diease in my family and I dont know if phentermine puts me at a higher risk. I want to stay the same weight but I want to be phentermine free.

Im going to add a few things....I am an addictions counselor.....with a degree I promise lol....You are addicted and need help...If you use more then one a day and it if for energy your body has become dependent on the drug to function. A common side effect to detoxing is depression and over whelming tiredness.....it will go away in time. Please see your Dr and get help....The biggest problem with this drug is it is not the majic pill...you have to exercise and eat right.....or the weight comes back....

To get off of any adicting drug you need to wean your self over several weeks...
If you have the pill you can start with cutting it into 4ths and taking 3/4 for the first week and then keep cutting down by a 1/4 each week. Phentermine is an amphedamine(spelling) which is an adicting drug. You need to also seek a Drs advice too on weaning. Some times stopping abruptly can hurt you. Seek your Docotors advice fisrt. This drug really shoul dnot be taken long term. It should be used to help you adjust to a healthy life style...not to be come dependent on it. Good luck to ya'll and for the new takers....do not get adicted...there is infromation out there to help you lean how to take. Seek a Doctors advice also. Buying on line is cheaper but does not give you the Drs advice you need. Good Luck

Its NOT an amphetamine, Phentermine is a sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine..It is also known as an "anorectic" or "anorexigenic" drug. Phentermine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite.Phentermine is used as a short-term supplement to diet and exercise in the treatment of obesity..Phentermine is habit forming. You can become physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after several weeks of continuous use. Talk to your doctor about stopping this medication gradually.

Wow. I hope you all get the help you need. I don't like hearing anyone go through this. I feel so guilty now for taking it in order to lose 20 lbs. I have no idea of the struggles women go through with weight and their appearance issues. All I know is that it must be tough. My prayers go out to you all. It's much easier to type it than it is to actually do it, but you gotta get active. Boosts here and there are fine, but you gotta make lifestyle changes. I know that's a cheesey term and I hate even saying it, but it's true. I lost 40 lbs. the right way, just started this stuff to get over the hump I've hit. I'm 33 and was in great shape my whole life until about 7 years ago. Then I got married, had kids, got into a routine, you know how it goes. I finally got sick of looking at the person I'd become, not to mention it's a danger of being in bad shape in my line of work now. Empower yourself to be what you can. Our bodies were made to move and to work, there's just no other way around it. I eat so go good now it's retarded. I'm not saying this to boast or brag, but to say if I can do it, ANYONE can. We are so much stronger than we think, life was meant to be fun, but there are challenges and struggles we have to go through to finish. Sorry to ramble, just don't like hearing the times some of us are going through.
