Here's some facts that affected me while I have been using the drug. No-this is only my findings, and not what the FDA may include!

1) 1st time I went from 225 to 165 lbs in a year. Stopped using it and gained all back plus an additional 10 lbs. I stopped because I wasn't progressing any more. I was suppose to lose at least 5lbs per month, but I stopped losing all together

2) 2nd time I lost 20 lbs in the first month, then maybe 2 or 3 lbs the next few months. Then it lost its effectiveness, so I had to stop using it. I gained all of the weight back and then even more weight.

3) Now weighing in at 260 lbs. I went back on it. I lost 30 lbs. the first month, then I remained at the steady weight of 230 lbs the rest of the 6 months I've been on it. I haven't gained any, but I haven't lost any either. I'm afraid of going off of it for fear that I'll put the weight back on and gain even more.

4) This drug HAS to be monitored monthly by your physician. If not it can cause a drastic increase in blood pressure, chest pains, etc. I have experienced both while on this med. It has caused increase migraines, too.

This med can be helpful if used with a strict diet plan, exercise and support. Being educated on eating right and exercising right should be enforced with the med, but doctors don't do this. This is why I may have put the weight back on and gained even more.

You should NEVER take this drug if you are pregnant, have an existing heart condition or high blood pressure. Remember- it is one main ingredient of the FenPhen drug that has been banned in the USA for causing heart attacks and strokes.

Hope this answers some questions
Dyanna

Thanks for the good info on phentermine, Dyanna. I'm sorry that you had
to deal with losing all that weight just to end up gaining it back.

It would help so much if doctors could be instructed somehow to only
prescribe Phentermine to people who agree to be monitored on a new
healthy, balanced diet and exercise program.

Hm... This is what I need to do! Sure, there are plenty of weight loss
sites that give you personal trainers, etc. but those are really just
geared towards people who want to lose 20lbs or so and gain tons
of muscle and cardiovascular endurance, etc..

There is no weight loss site that gives people access to their own
personal trainer, motivator and a dietician who understands the
need to use a diet pill like Phentermine, but also take advantage
of the appetite suppression to help everyone develop better habits
and keep the weight off forever..

Wow I'm so excited! I can't wait to do it!

Hi I have taken phentermine off and on for 22 years. It is no longer effective, but I am afraid to quit taking it. I hate going through the withdrawals and am afraid I may have permanately altered my personality. Anyone have any comments on this?
I now have pre diabetes and high blood pressure regulated by medicine.

Do you have a doctor who can advise/instruct you on withdrawal to
minimize the time where you feel bad? There is no way that I know
of to withdraw from a medicine that you depend on without experiencing
the withdrawal effects.

If anyone knows something I don't, please step up.

oh my gosh are you guys kidding. i did not know you could take this medicine that long(22years). is it that addictive. i took phentermine for about 3 months 10 years ago i had wonderful results dropped about 50 pounds and it took all these years to gain it back. i had no trouble at all coming off of phentermine 10 years ago but now i am afraid that maybe i could end up addicted to it. i am now questioning if i should just try and lose the weight without it. i started backk on phentermine almost 2 weeks ago and i have already lost 12 pounds so maybe i will start reducing my dose and just continue with my eating habits and exercise and just use self control when it comes to the hunger pains. maybe reading this will help me to have more self control because i am scared to think that i could be developing a lifetime dependency.

you may never get addicted to it.. depends on you and how you CHOOSE to take it..I have NO one to blame but myself. Started out to use for weightloss, then maintain..then i "needed" for the energy. Found it helped alot with work and housework, blah blah...now i just "need" it.. :(

thanks for your reply. i have been thinking this morning since reading this and i do believe i need to be very careful. i am 33 years old now so when i first took phentermine i was in my early 20's and i didnt need anything to boost my energy but now it is a totally different story . and i must be honest i think now my personality is much more addictive than it was 10 years ago. because before i didnt drink coffee at all and now i cannot function without. i am going to do my best to keep in my mind that this is a temporary aid in helping me to achieve a wieght loss goal but now a long term fix. i appreciate the fact that you were so honest about why you have taken phentermine for so long because it has caused me to really think about my plan and the need to recognize the possibility of becoming dependent on phentermine if i do not keep the right frame of mind. once again THANK YOU
