Hey Twins, I agree that 115 at 5'10" would be a bit gross. Lol.

Anyway, I can't say I've done research on this, but I have
read the stories, comments and questions of many people
all over the internet who are taking Phentermine to lost
a minimal amount such as 20lbs.

I think that doctors are weary of prescribing this diet pill
because with 20lbs to lose, they make a blanket assumption
that everyone can easily lose that weight without pills.
It may also be because some people experience elevated
heart rate and blood pressure while taking the drug,
as well as some bad headaches when they first start.

I'm not sure of any other answers.

I've been on Phentermine 15 mg 1 week today (8/24). I weight 160 (as of 8/11, drs scale), and I'm 5'7. I weighted in today and the scale read 154 (home scale). I take the pills once a day. How often do you all take your pills? KK

I just finished reading some research material on Phen. Apparently there are several reasons it's not recommended for "casual dieter"
1. People who only need to lose 20 pounds or less and use medications have a higher risk of becoming underweight
2. Like Ian said the increase in heart rate and blood pressure can be dangerous.
3. Doctors don't want to risk prescribing medications to people who may have an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulemia
4. This medication has been shown to be addictive.
5. The cost of the medication doesn't really justify the use for casual dieting.

I am not saying that I agree or disagree with any of these things I am just copying what I found in other reports.

I stop taking the pills sometime in Aug. I took the pills for about 3 wks. I didn't like the way I was feeling. I felt weird when I took them. And yes, I did notice an increase in heart rate. Thanks for the info.

Since you stopped taking them, have you been continuing with some type of health plan? I used to take every new thing that came out looking for that one magic pill. Some helped some didn't, but ultimately I had to tell myself that my mind and my will are the only magic pills there are. Even if I found one that actually worked, I can't spend my life on it. Just like the fad diets. You can't "diet" all your life. All you can do is try to understand what healthy really means and do your best to direct your life in a healthy direction. I am being very careful with what I eat now, but I am not restricting myself from anything. Using the charts on FitDay.com I am able to make adjustments in my food and activities to allow myself to continue enjoying the things I like. I would never say that someone else is wrong for the way the handle their lives. I just know that for me, the only way I can succeed is by self control and will power. Also, by having a great support group to turn to. Thank God I finally found that here.
