Can you mix alcohol & Phentermine?

I was wondering if it is okay to drink while you are using this medicine. I actually drank last weekend while using it, the affects of the drinks kickedd in sooner, but I don't know if it was from the medicine or from lack of eating the normal amount that I'm used to.

Does anyone have an answer?

I haven't found anything in the literature saying not to drink alcohol but I would not reccomend it from personal experience. I am only on my 3rd pill right now (taking one every other day for reasons that will be obvious when I tell you this experience) but on my first day, last friday, I took one 37.5 mg pill at about 8 AM. I experineced vision blurriness, lightheadedness, slight nausea, spaciness. I was at work and I had to eat something even though i wasn't really hungry. I had one bite of a donut and about 4oz of o.j. and that was all I could bear to eat. I felt like I would be sick if I ate, I was so disgusted with the food. For lunch I tried to eat one of those frozen weight watchers meals. I could only force down aboy 2 and a half raviolis and a few sips of water. Later that evening, around 9PM I met some friends at a bar. I barely picked at an appetizer and drank 3 glasses of wine. Where I would normally be buzzed from a few glasses I was smashed. Shortly there after I became viloently ill, throwing up what little food was in my system for hours. It was horrible. The next morning I still felt out of it and nauseated. I felt like absolute hell all day long. That said I can't even smell alcohol while taking this pill but I am also experiencing a lot of the side effects. I wouldn't advise anyone to drink on it or at least not more than a light drink first to see how it effects you.

I don't think there is any medication out there that should be mixed with alchohol. Also, if you're not eating, obviously drinking alchohol is going to have a bad effect. Another big thing is all achoholic drinks are incredibly fattening.

Yes it was totally stupid of me to have even one after not eating and taking this. I underestimated the potency of the drug and how long it stays in your system. So for now I am taking one every other day to allow my body to adjust. I hate taking any kind of medicine as it is so I am struggling a liitle with this. I have already a noticed a difference in the effects today from the first day. At least I could eat today!

I have read in other posts that alcohol has almost the opposite effect, some people being particulary immune or tolerant to the effects of alcohol. I guess it is different fo everyone but I would say err on the side of caution and don't drink!

I got mine form my dr and in big words on the bottle it says do not drink while taking this medication. It increases the dizziness side effect. So if you feel loopy or dizzy when you take it, that increases. And like Zoey said you shouldn't drink while taking any meds. And alcohal is so high in calories, so if you're trying to lose weight why would you drink?

:-) I have drank alcohol after taking a phen and was fine,it has similar properties to speed the illegal stuff.It actually lessens the effects of alcohol,drink a lot and not feel drunk.Not a good thing really,you could drink so much and alcohol poison yourself! :eek:

My effects weren't lessend, I felt like it speed up. But it's not like I went out and got wasted, I had a few drinks with a few friends at a street dance. I really didn't think that it was a big deal. The warnings that came with my perscription did not say anything about using alcohol, and I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about it. It seems like you guys think that it is a bad thing to drink when it really wasn't a big deal.
