We have identical stats. I'm 5'7" and was at 157.8 at the beginning of Setpemerber (see below). In July, I went to the doctor for a check-up. I wanted my thyroid checked. When I explained to my doctor that I was pretty much eating healthy and working out regularly with no results she prescribed Wellbutrin. I had weighed in at her office at 164. This was my heaviest weight ever (except when I was pregnant nine years ago). Yet, I was healthier and did more exercise that at any other point in my life?????. Wellbutrin is actually an anti-depressent, but one of the only side effects it has in many people is loss of weight. I was suprised, but tried it.
I took the Wellbutrin for 2 months. All through July I worked out hard - joined a boot camp - 4-5+ times a week and strickly watched my
diet (6 meals protein/carbs each meal, etc.) I only lost 5 pounds, which I guess isn't bad, but gees, I did all that work and ate so litte.
I went back in to get a refill in the beginning of September and hadn't lost really any more weight. I was still working out regularly and a majority of the time watching what I ate. I weighed in at 157.8. She understood my frustration and prescribed
phentermine for one month. I asked her to make it two, so I wouldn't have to come in again so soon.
I started taking it and, although my
weight loss has not been as dramtic as others, I'm steadily decreasing. This is without working out. I'm eating between 1000 - 1300 calories a day and trying to get a good balance of protein/carbs and fat. Phentermine is an appetite suppresant, it is not a miracle worker. You still have to watch what you eat.
For some reason, when I started the phentermine, my drive to work out stopped. I subconscioulsy, may be be relying on the supressed appetite too much. I hope to start working out again next week, and expect it to help with the weight loss. I think it is vital that you work out while losing weight. You won't like your body if you don't anyway.
Well, that's my story so far. With the phentermine, fitday.com and this site, I've been extremely motivated and encouraged.
Phentermine will probably make you loopy and effect your sleeping. I denied it was the phentermine keeping me up, but I think I was lying to myself. Sometimes, I'm even a little shaky. I got a lot of headaches the first week and felt weak, but now the headaches are gone and I don't feel as weak.
I think each person is different. You have to make the call about phentermine. I think taking any type of medication is a big step, but it seems to be helping me.
Post what you decide to do. Even if you don't take the phentermine, you can still post your
weightloss experience at this site. People will be very supportive.
