Anything with "ine" on the end of it (caffine, amphetimine, phentermine) are all in the same family of beta2 agonist....for instance asthma meds like albuterol, which you may be familiar with are beta2 agonists. They all act as broncodialotors (they dialate your lungs). They also all are alpha 1 agonists too which accounts for the increased heart rate.
I am not a Respiratory Therapist, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.
