How long does phentermine remain in your system?

I have to take a drug test (urine) for my new job. I have heard that phentermine can show up as amphetamine (because it is). Any idea how many days I should stop taking phentermine before taking the test? This would not be a problem if I had an Rx for it, but I do not.

I remember reading about this on another site, I will check around for ya. Did you order online? If you did, the bottle should have your name on it and that should be alright. I think if you let them know up front and tell them your on phen. , when it comes up in the test they wont be surprised.

I will post if I see anything that might pertain to this subject.

No, Phentermine is not an Amphetamine. Phentermine is, however, similar chemically to the Amphetamines. In the diagram below, we have reproduced the molecular structures of Phentermine, Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.

The three molecules are chemically similar, but are not identical.

As Phentermine is similar chemically to Amphetamines, it may cause a positive result in urine screening tests for Amphetamines

Currently, no clinical study is available that measures the length of time that Phentermine will stay in your body after you stop treatment.

Hope this helps and again I dont think it should be a problem with the urine test as long as you tell them your on them and show them your prescription bottle with your name.

I would rather not tell the person administering the test that I am on it. If he knew anything about the drug he would probably wonder why a doctor would prescribe a weight loss drug for a 5'9"/155 lb person. Besides, the pill bottle has the address of the pharmacy on it, which is in Florida. That would raise a red flag as well. Any thoughts from the moderator?

I have been on phentermine for years(with a script) and not once did i have to produce a script . so im guessing that it never showed up :-D
