I am addicted to phentermine

I know from working in the substance abuse field, people often swap one addiction for another. Many individuals already have some level of a compulsive disorder, so it makes sense that someone who compulsively overeats could compulsively take these drugs and then develop a physical dependence. But on the "Phenpro" site the doctor said most overweight people aren't addictive prone in terms of behaviors ( most overweight people aren't alcoholics, drug addicts, compulsive gamblers, etc.). But it's good information to have.

People fail to realize this is an amphetamine, it is a nicely packaged speed. Very addicting. Sorry to hear that Missy, I hope everything works out for you, maybe go talk to your doctor.EDIT BY SUSAN- NO,NO,NO-it is a drug like others, tthat can be abused. This forum does NOT support the idea that it is not a safe diet drug under a doctor's care.

yes i agree with you guys input on here it is an addictive pill that is why it is not to be abused what i did i was on it for 12 weeks or 3 months then i quite for 3 weeks that is what i read online to do i noticed that when i stopped it was very hard i wanted it for like the first 4 days but then i was fine i guess you have to go 3 months on then 2 weeks off then when you stop taking it all together reduce your intake to 1/2 a pill for one week then stop that way you do not feel depressed and feel like you need it to keep on!!!! The truth is the truth it is a great weightloss pill not to be abused i have a friend that has been on it for 2 years and already met her goal she was like me i use to have a drinking problem i would have to binge drink every friday and saturday night buit i must say i was on the road to being a full fledged alcoholic but the phentermine helped me stop drinking because i could not drink while on it then after 4 months now without alcolhol i feel great i do not even want it so it has helped me over come 2 addictions food and alcohol now when i get to my goal i will have to stop phentermine ans smoking and i will be great.

oh my this is what I am going through now. I have been taking them since 1998 and now it is 2009 and I have been taking them on and off for so long. I cant stop I am so addicted to them.

NO! Do not stop cold turkey!
What dose are you now on? Once your body got so used to taking it, you must go off slowly.
I'd say try:
Week 1- 3/4 regular dose daily
Week 2- 1/2 regular dose daily
Week 3- 1/2 dose every other day
Week 4- same as week 3
Week 5- 1/2 dose every 3 days
Week 6- same as week 5
Week 7- 1/2 dose every 4 days
Week 8- 1/2 dose every 5 days
Week 9- 1/2 dose every 6 days
Week 10- none
