I started at 190 around this time last year and in all honesty, I would lose 10-15 here and there and gain it back and was getting discouraged when I based my confidence in the phentermine and dieting alone. I'm now down to 150 and it is because I started taking breaks from the phentermine, changing my lifestyle in terms of activity and the last 20 came off since December.
I personally hate to exercise, I know that sounds lame but I do. I want instant gratification and working out never does that for me. SO ... when we moved in December, I naturally had to get more active by moving boxes and we got hardwood floors that needed some serious scrubbing and polishing before we even moved in. I'm not a neat freak, but I like a clean house and so I married one. Well, I thought during our move that I was so excited to see my clothes getting bigger that I'd really work to keep the house clean and scrub the hardwood floors and stay productively active and it has served me well, I have to say. I get the instant gratification of a clean house and I didn't realize how fast the weight would come off just from doing my housework well enough to please even my mother-in-law (okay, maybe not my mother-in-law ... but neat for me dammit!)!!
I know that sounds like I'm as lazy as I can be, but it's not so much laziness as it is that I want to work out in 2 weeks and see results and that only happens on TV, so I hate working out. I used to take 2 hours out of my day and work out and it got me only so far. I'm more of a yoga/tai chi/dancing type so cardio hell has to be productive in ways other than purposely making myself sweat and still having laundry to do or a house to clean. I'm so excited that I'm getting stuff accomplished while I'm being active - I am just that way, lame as it may sound. I will start massage therapy school soon and that too should keep me on my feet so I'm hoping to stay up and active. I left my desk job and that is not the reason I gained, but it sure didn't help me lose anything.
You are probably not as impatient as I am and if you add any activity to your lifestyle at all, it will help. Good luck with your weight loss.
