Hello everyone! I got my order of phentermine today and I plan to start taking it tomorrow! I was just curious to know if anyone has taken any anxiety medication with phentermine? I was diagnosed with anxiety a few months ago, my doctor says because of my anxiety my body produced excess cortisol which resulted in me gaining weight in my stomache. I gained 40 lbs in a little over 4 months; at first they thought it might be my thyroid but it turned out to be anxiety. A friend told me about phentermine and how it worked for her...I ordered some the next day! Any information is greatly appreciated!

Good Morning, gaudi, Zoloft is classified as an SRI, and it has a reaction when taken with phentermine. Unless you are under Doctor's care and very closely monitored, it can be dangerous. I don't advise it at all. dawg

I see you posted this question awhile ago but I was wondering if you mixed the two? I am on zoloft and I love it but I have 15mg of Phent and was wondering if I should take it. Any input would be appreciated

hotmomma-
there may be some confusion here due to all of the recent talk about mixing phentermine with antidepressants. I'm no doctor, but let's see if we can't clarify a little....
There are several different TYPES of anti anxiety and anti depressant medication. They are classified by which "set" of chemicals in the brain that they are intended to have an effect on. For example-some are SRI's, and some are MAOI inhibitors, etc etc. Because they are COMPLETELY different animals, they also have different side effects and drug interactions and contraindications.
Phentermine and Zoloft should not be mixed. These two types of medications should not be taken any less than two weeks apart.....meaning that the zoloft can still be in your system, and adversely react with phentermine, up to 14 days after your last dose of zoloft.
Because this is dealing with emotional/psychological issues and cerebral process-other people may have a totally different reaction than you....so even if someone else on the internet says they mixed the two and told you they were fine-that doesn't mean that you would be, and there really isn't a predictable outcome for any individual person. Losing a few pounds won't mean much in the long run if it ends up causing more severe mental health problems.
ANY time you are unsure of how or if to mix medications, you should ask your doctor and pharmacist. Call the pharmacy that prescribes your Zoloft and ask some questions!

Did the same doc prescribe both meds? Because if he did, I am sure that if there was any reactions between the two that he wouldnt have gave you both. Just always make your doc aware of what you are taking before he gives you any scripts and it will save you alot of headache and also money(buy them and can't take them)

That makes alot of sense. I was thinking the 15mg once a day wouldnt be so bad but why risk it right. Thank you for your response.
