hotmomma-
there may be some confusion here due to all of the recent talk about mixing phentermine with antidepressants. I'm no doctor, but let's see if we can't clarify a little....
There are several different TYPES of anti anxiety and anti depressant medication. They are classified by which "set" of chemicals in the brain that they are intended to have an effect on. For example-some are SRI's, and some are MAOI inhibitors, etc etc. Because they are COMPLETELY different animals, they also have different side effects and drug interactions and contraindications.
Phentermine and Zoloft should not be mixed. These two types of medications should not be taken any less than two weeks apart.....meaning that the zoloft can still be in your system, and adversely react with phentermine, up to 14 days after your last dose of zoloft.
Because this is dealing with emotional/psychological issues and cerebral process-other people may have a totally different reaction than you....so even if someone else on the internet says they mixed the two and told you they were fine-that doesn't mean that you would be, and there really isn't a predictable outcome for any individual person. Losing a few pounds won't mean much in the long run if it ends up causing more severe mental health problems.
ANY time you are unsure of how or if to mix medications, you should ask your doctor and pharmacist. Call the pharmacy that prescribes your Zoloft and ask some questions!
