I took Phentermine for the first time a few months ago. I was taking 37.5 mg. It seemed to really work and I lost about 11 lbs. in the first month. My prescription ran out (I had ordered it online). I went to my doctor and she gave me a prescription for the same mg. I started this prescription about 1.5 weeks after I ran out of the other. However, this time I didn't feel it working at all. Does anyone know why? Should I try something other than Phentermine?

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ginny, You might want to try phendimetrazine, many members switch to this when the phentermine begins to lose it's effect. It actually works quite well and is less costly than the phentermine. I wouldn't advise you to order the capsules. I am actually going back to my doctor in the morning. She is going to refill my prescription if I want it, but wants to check my blood pressure first. I just thought I might mention some other things to her to get her feedback if you thought there might be another prescription that would work better or have better results. Most medications are covered through my insurance. Any other suggestions or recommendations?

:grin: Hi, Ginny! My sister lost a lot of weight with Bontril, and swears by it. She gets it from her doctor who monitors her fairly closely. I have read that several members were happy with Tenuate, too. I haven't tried either but think I will order the Phendimetrazine that Top-Dawg suggests if I ever need something different.

Hi Ginny, Bontril is Phendimetrazine and Tenuate is so similar chemically to Phentermine, it probably wouldn't have that much of an effect on you. Since you are seeing your doc in the morning, it would be a good idea to ask her if she will prescribe something else. Good Luck, dawg :razz:

I went back to my doctor yesterday and she gave me another prescription for phentermine just to give it another chance. I started it today and I already noticed a difference from the last prescription. I did notice that the manufacturer on the last prescription was Amide and this time it is Purepac. Is there a big difference in manufacturer and how effective the pills are?

Hi Jinny, I was wondering the same thing. Glad to see these pills are working better for you. I'm on the Amide time released pill. It took me alittle while to get used to the way they work. It feels like it took a couple of weeks for it to get into my system. But now I feel great on them and I'm really starting to see results after a month. But anyway, my MIL is on the PurePac brand and I was wondering if hers was better than mine. Amanda

Purepac is the only phentermine not slow release. You are getting more phentermine in your system, but it isn't going to last as many hours.
