Wow, so... I haven't taken Phentermine since 31 December. Part of me wanted to see how I would manage without it. The other part of me wanted to try and not build up a tolerance to it.

I haven't weighed myself yet, but I think I'm having more trouble controlling my appetite than EVER. It seems like every day has been a binge. I've probably gained about 5 lbs or more. Since I last updated my weight....

I need to get back on track. NOW. But - I'm really worried now more than ever that I'll just go back to eating horribly once I'm off the phentermine for good.

Have any of you guys been long(er) time users of the meds that actually kept all the weight off without going back to old habits?

Hi Spieldose!
You are doing so well, don't be too hard on yoursself. It is so hard to give up the phen but it's really good to give your body a break from it. Here are 2 tips that helped me:

1) Try weaning yourself off of phen, I know you have been taking the 37.5mg so try taking just 1/2 or go for every other day. When I found myself on a "binge" day without the phen, I would just take a 1/2, even a 1/4 if it was late and it helped. Some people are able to just quit cold turkey, I am not one of them!
2) Try eating low carb a day or two before you stop and while you are off. Eating more protein and eating a small snack every three hours will help. Besides... white flour, sugar, pasta, rice lead to cravings. And....absolutely flood yourself with water or crystal light...this also helps..

Good Luck!!

Jess

Those are some great tips. Thanks a lot. I'll try those after a few weeks on in January.

I have always had a problem with binging(90% of the time I'm not even a bit hungry!). So, now finally after 9 years and trying everything, going through spurts of depression in high school, I am starting to lose weight with Phen. The worst part will be when I meet goal, because I will feel helpless. I've always gained weight back that I've lost because of the lack of motivation, but that was because I just couldn't keep doing what I was doing. Now I really want to KEEP it off, so I don't know what I will do after I reach my goal.

I may keep taking phen after I reach goal. I know thats probably not good for you, but I guess I'm willing to take the chance. Plus, I would only take 1/2 or maybe even 1/4 pill as suggested to tame any cravings I get.

I guess I'm just frightened to meet goal, because I won't know what to do!

sara- The LAST thing you will feel when you meet your goal weight will be helpless or worried. You'll feel happy and confident and free...and there is nothing that you could eat that replaces that feeling. If you HAVE to binge, do it just 1 day and get right back on your diet the next.I read this book a long time ago called Creative Cheating. It explained how you could pick 1 day a week to go crazy and eat whatever you wanted from morning`til night and still lose weight as long as you restricted yourself the next 6 days. The one thing you must NEVER do is binge 2 days in a row.I did it for a while and it worked-like a reward program,it made me happy. I used it when I was trying to get over the hump of my halfway mark. Keep moving forward and you'll eventually get there. "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels." Is that how that saying goes? I'm not sure....close enough.

Hey...That makes a lot of sense! Maybe thats what I will do. Its just that I don't really restrict myself right now. I don't watch calories, just use portion control and try to eat as healthy as possible. I do eat treats, ike yesterday i had quite a bit of chocolate, but I tend to feel guilty, and exercise to make up for it lol. I weighed myself today, and I'm actually down a little . So, hopefully when I reach goal, I will be too proud of myself to let me go back to what I was...Thanks
