Yes, I stopped cold turkey about a month ago....and I gained 10 pounds in ONE week. I was hoping some of it was bloating, etc. from withdrawals, but I'm still up those 10 lbs.

I've decided to go back on Phen to lose the excess weight, then ween myself off of it next time.

Has anyone else weened off the pills, and DIDN'T gain weight? I will never go cold turkey again. My family is giving me the raised eye brow at how I could gain SO fast. I'm hoping by cutting the pill in half for a week, then going every other day, etc. will help me from gaining again...

10 lbs. are you sure? (Teeny pls. excuse if you're a guy as I can't tell by your screen name but) are you PMS'ing perhaps? Did you keep up your water intake? I mean you have to go to town on eating to gain 10 lbs. in a week. What time did you weigh yourself? Did your workout schedule change drastically if you do exercise. Alcholic beverages? All these are contributing factors. Take stock and actually write down what you did the last week and perhaps you can figure it out from there. Good luck. I'm sure you will lose it.

Incredible, I know! (and...LOL...yes, I'm female!) I actually gained the 10 lbs. the last week of March, and not during PMS. Now, it's the end of April and the 10 lbs. are still lingering. So I'm opting to return to Phen, lose the 10 lbs. and gradually stop taking phen.

I really can't pinpoint exactly what I did different. Yes, my appetite was tripled, but I tried to be cautious of what I ate.... I literally gained all ten in one week.

So that's like a month ago that you gained the 10 lbs. How long were you at your goal level? Everyone's body has that "comfort weight" and if you haven't trained your body to be at the weight very long perhaps your body is telling you something. Have you taken into consideration any muscle you may have put on if you are now reguarly working out? I would love to be 120 but I cannot maintain that. It is impossible for me to maintain that level because of how I am built. Sure I've gotten down to that but my body fought me every step of the way only to go back to 125-130 which was maintained until my pregnancy. So for me 125-130 is good. But I hate the number because I'm only 5'2. So when I think of someone who is 5'2 you I think around 115-120 should be good. But there are so many factors involved. Do you understand what I'm saying?

Why did you stop cold turkey? If you don't mind me asking.

I know what you mean about being short....I'm 5'3 and currently 142 lbs. My goal was 125, but I never got under 130. I stayed around 130-133 for about 6 months, then stopped cold turkey because I kept getting an ODD side effect (my nose would turn bright red when I my body temp went up). This side effect started making me VERY self conscious, especially since my teenagers would comment on my "rudolph" nose! So, I just stopped taking it....and immediately started feeling bloated and tired (total withdrawal issues).

So, now I start fresh, and hopefully lose weight quickly so I can ween off this time. I really hate the red-nose effect, and that's what I'm dreading most right now!

Teeny, were you holding to a good healthy diet learned while first on phentermine? What were you eating daily? I hope I can help guide you but have to know what went haywire!
It CAN be turned around!

Yes, as Susan said, the types of foods you're eating really make a difference. Unfortunately most people use Phentermine without trying to change the types of foods they eat to healthier ones. Instead, they just eat a lot LESS of the BAD foods they always eat. Then when they go cold turkey as you say, they eat more of those really bad foods that caused them to gain weight in the first place... even if they're trying to eat less.

I'm guessing you might be the victim of this myth that dietpills do it for you. Let us know about your diet so we can do our best to help ya!

I'm sure I inadvertently increased my portion sizes because I felt so hungry after eliminating phentermine.

However.....I guess my original post wasn't so much about HOW I gained the weight, but if I had weened off of the pills would I have avoided gaining so much so fast??

I realize I do need to be aware of what and how much I eat, but quitting cold turkey was a bad idea. If anyone has had the experience of "cold turkey" vs. "weening off", I would love to hear your story!!!

Thanks!
Teeny
