So I weighed myself today and it's official I am now truly frustrated at my lack of progress. While everyone else is losing 3, 4, even 6 lb.s the first week what do I lose? 1 lb. and yes I know if you eat a lot of bad carbs in the first place then stop all the sudden kick up your water intake those will lose more than those who eat healthier and drink more water. Or those who need to lose more will have a larger loss each week. But it's not like I have 15 or 20 lbs. to lose I have 34!!

So I started on the 20th with the yellow pills then became frustrated when I didn't see a loss on Monday so I became legit saw a bariatric physician on Tues. who gave me the 37.5's. It's drives me even more mental that I'm taking stronger ones and they still don't have "the impact" that they should.

This is a typical day for me:

BREAKFAST: ½ cup of Special K w/¾ cup of skim milk: 150 calories
1 tsp. sugar (natural not white): 59 calories,
3 strawberries
(209 calories total not including strawberries)

LUNCH: 4 slices honey maple turkey (thinly sliced), 2 slices of whole wheat bread: 45 calories each, 1 tomato slice, 1 leaf of lettuce, 1 tsp. honey mustard 59 calories, 1 slice of white American cheese 60 calories, 1 Flat bread: 50 calories

(300 calories not including tomato, lettuce )

SNACK: 2 Flatbreads, 1 slice of turkey (was very hungry)

DINNER: Halibet with tomatoes and peppers (red, yellow and orange),salad greens with tomatoes, carrots, peppers and red onions., 1 tbls. Dressing, handful of walnuts with sprinkling of gorgonzola

Water: 5 liters

Exercise: 2.5 miles running and walking (with a jogging stroller and a baby who weighs 25 lbs. up and down hills.) 200 crunches

So with that would some please tell me why is it I only have a 1 lb. loss? Ok so I used 1 tsp. of sugar (59 calories) on my Special K -- it was not the processed white crappy sugar but the pure brown surger cane (I don't believe in using Splenda or Equal as **I feel** there is too much crap that goes into it and I'd rather use organic) and my walnuts (1 cup is 773 calories; I can assure you that I did not put 1 cup on my salad. It was 5 and they were crushed up) and the sprinkle of gongonzola cheese (again 1/4 cup is 100 calories) and it was a 1 tsp. If I cannot allow myself those extras then I have a problem. Because there are people I know who eat a lot more unhealthy choices and still have a significant weight loss. I don't have the patience to lose a pound a week.

I know it's hard to not get frustrated when you don't loose, but hang in there, the weight will come off! Your exercising may be turningthat fat into muscle which actually weighs more than fat so you may not see quick results like some who do not exercise. I do not exercise, I will probably start if this rain would ever quit!

How is your sodium intake? I find that if I eat a lot of salt I don't loose like I do if I don't eat salt. I now make my family season their own food, I do not add salt to anything when I cook.

Sounds like you are doing everything right but like I said the exercising could be the key, but don't stop exercising, toned heavier muscle looks better than flabby fat!

Don't give up!!!!

Fat actually does not turn into muscle. You lose fat and build your muscles from themselves. Muscles do weigh more than fat. Don't give up. I lost 5 pounds the first and then a pound here and there the next two weeks. I thought "this sucks". But overall, I am at nine pounds gone. I don't look at it per week, but overall, so far. Good Luck!!!

I think you are doing everything right. Sometimes I think our bodies, react differently then we think they should. Last week, I suddenly shot up 3 lbs, no rhyme or reason. Two days later it was gone, plus 2 more. Give your body time to adjust to what you are doing, it will respond.
I know I am addicted to the scale, I weigh far to often and many days let that get me down. I am trying to overcome that!

I use the measuring tape to better judge my progress.

Hang in there, your hard work will be rewarded. You will see results.

Laurie

Thank for the pep talk everyone. I just got back from my morning jog/walk and feel a bit better but still very upset. I still don't feel any reaction from the phen. I guess I will have to discuss it with my physician on Tuesday on why I don't feel the same effect as last time (which would be a week that I am taking the higher dosage).

As for the salt KScott I don't use salt in my cooking. My mother trained me well as a young child. No salt, no crappy cereals (only Rice Krispies or Corn Flakes), no soda, no cookies in the house, chips, etc. None of that stuff is in my house today because of my mom's strict upbringing with food. So it can't be the sodium. I guess I'm just going to have to have a all out war with my body.

What is your actual total calorie count for the day? It should be 1200-1500 and it looks like it might be a little more. It all looks very healthy and nutritious but things like walnuts and cheese can have a lot of calories even in small amounts. What does your doctor recommend ?

The most is about 1200 - 1300 calories. My physician gave me the ok to me have a slice of cheese on my sandwich. I eat maximum 1200 calories. Maybe my body needs some time to readjust.

It doesn't seem fair! You're being so good! As far as the phentermine is concerned that doesn't seem right either. You should feel something more than you are, especially since you've taken it before and you know what to expect. Did the doctor give them to you or did you fill a prescription at the pharmacy?
